The Dental Operations Director is responsible for the strategic oversight, operational excellence, and growth of all dental practice locations at La Clinica. This role ensures that all dental sites operate efficiently, meet performance targets, and align with the organization's mission and long-term objectives. Working in close collaboration with Practice Managers, providers, and executive leadership, the Dental Operations Director drives program sustainability, financial success, patient access, and high-quality care while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and teamwork.

Accountabilities Include:

Strategic Planning & Growth
  • Lead long-term strategic planning for dental operations, aligning with organizational goals.
  • Identify opportunities for expansion, new service lines, and operational improvements.
  • Develop and implement scalable processes to support growth and sustainability across all locations.
  • Monitor industry trends, reimbursement changes, and regulatory requirements to proactively adjust operational strategies.
  • Work closely with the Chief Dental Officer to forecast future resource, staffing, and facility needs.

Multi-Site Operational Leadership
  • Oversee multiple dental practice locations, ensuring high-quality patient care, financial performance, and operational efficiency.
  • Set and enforce standardized best practices across sites to ensure consistency in workflows, compliance, and patient experience.
  • Establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for each site and hold Practice Managers accountable for achieving goals related to:
  • Revenue cycle performance (collections, reimbursement rates, insurance processing)
  • Provider productivity & chair utilization (target: 85%+)
  • Patient access & no-show rates (
  • Patient satisfaction & experience (4.5+ star ratings)
  • Staff engagement & retention
  • Conduct regular site visits to assess operations, support Practice Managers, and address challenges in real time.
  • Implement data-driven decision-making using reports and dashboards to monitor performance.

Financial & Program Sustainability
  • Oversee budget development and financial planning for all dental locations, ensuring cost-effective operations while maintaining high standards of care.
  • Work with billing and finance teams to optimize revenue cycle management, improve collections, and reduce denials.
  • Ensure each practice operates within budget guidelines while maximizing efficiency and resources.
  • Develop business cases for capital investments, including technology, equipment, and facility improvements.
  • Identify and implement alternative funding opportunities, such as grants or strategic partnerships, to expand services.

Collaboration & Leadership Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Practice Managers, providing guidance and accountability in site-level management.
  • Foster a collaborative leadership culture, promoting shared learning and cross-site problem-solving.
  • Work closely with Clinical Directors, HR, and Learning & Development to create and implement leadership training for dental staff.
  • Ensure that equity, inclusion, and staff development are core components of leadership initiatives.
  • Support provider engagement strategies to enhance team satisfaction, retention, and performance.

Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management
  • Ensure 100% compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, infection control, and state/federal dental regulations across all sites.
  • Develop standardized risk mitigation strategies, ensuring safety protocols are followed.
  • Partner with compliance teams to stay ahead of industry changes and implement necessary updates.


Qualifications:
  • Thorough knowledge of the health care business environment.
  • Multi-site financial management, budgeting, and revenue cycle operations.
  • Insurance contracting, Medicaid / Medicare, and value-based care models.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, process improvement and program expansion.
  • Proven ability to analyze data, monitor KPIs, and drive performance improvements.
  • Advanced interpersonal, oral and written communication, and organizational skills.
  • The ability to comprehend verbal information/instruction, to exchange verbal information with others and the ability to present information/instruction verbally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of people, including employees, patients, public officials, and the general public.
  • Ability to read and understand written materials and the ability to compose information and instruction in written form.
  • Essential to be able to reason mathematically and to have analytical problem-solving skills.


Education and/or Experience:

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, health care, or related field.
  • At least four years of operations management experience.
  • A combination of at six years of dental experience and four years of leadership experience may be substituted for minimum educational requirements.

Preferred:
  • Master's degree in business, health care, or related field
