Job Description
Job Title: Radiologic Technologist I
Job Specialty: Radiology
Job Duration: 11 months
Shift: Xray Department, 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM, 5 x 8hr shifts, every other weekend, as needed. No on-call
Guaranteed Hours: 40
Experience: Must have 1 year of experience
License: New Jersey State License
Certifications: Completion of the National Registry examination
Must-Have: ARRT certification
Job Description:
- Produce diagnostic radiographic examinations by positioning patients and providing immobilization devices, selecting proper technical factors based on individual patient needs, and operating necessary equipment.
- Restrict the radiation beam through cone and collimating devices to protect unaffected parts of the patient from exposure.
- Perform portable x-ray examinations in patient rooms, operating rooms, and emergency rooms.
- Follow operational procedures to identify patient films with name and x-ray number, and correctly mark film as to the side of the patient taken.
- Develop exposed x-ray film using available processing methods.
- Complete patient requisitions with technologist initials, date, number, and size of the film.
- Maintain an orderly x-ray room under the direction of the department head.
- Prepare radiopaque contrast media and assist physicians in administering these mixtures to patients.
- Perform administrative duties related to scheduling appointments, patient instructions, film filing, maintenance of records, reception of patients, and other administrative tasks as required.
- Assist patients with moving, turning, and getting on and off the x-ray tables, tailored to individual patient needs and abilities.
- Lift a minimum of 5 lbs., push and pull a minimum of 10 lbs., and stand for a minimum of 6 hours a day.
- Identify the needs of the patient population served and deliver care specific to those needs, including considerations of age, culture, language, and impairments. This includes effective communication with patients, parents, and/or primary caregivers.
- Adhere to the standards identified in the organization's competencies.
Education Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an AMA-approved school of Radiologic Technology
- Completion of clinical and A.R.R.T. requirements
Preferred Education:

- English proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking
