The Product Development Engineer will be responsible for leading the design and development of new products from concept to production. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution and product performance, while adhering to quality standards and cost targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead product development projects from conceptual design through to production.
- Create and review engineering drawings and documentation necessary for product development.
- Conduct cost analysis and implement cost reduction strategies throughout the development process.
- Support manufacturing processes by providing tooling and fixture designs.
- Utilize CAD software, such as SolidWorks, to design and simulate product performance.
- Perform testing and validation of prototypes to ensure compliance with specifications and ASME standards.
- Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to address product support and manufacturing challenges.
- Serve as a mentor for junior engineers and interns, fostering professional growth and knowledge sharing.
- Engage in research and development activities to innovate and improve product offerings.
- Manage and execute New Product Introduction (NPI) projects, ensuring timely delivery and quality results.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience in product development and engineering design.
- Strong knowledge of GD&T and engineering drawing standards.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes including machining, brazing, and welding.
- Experience with MRP software and material review boards (MRB).
- Demonstrated ability in project management and leading cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of Six Sigma methodologies and tools for process improvement.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on collaboration.
- Ability to analyze costs and implement effective cost reduction strategies.
