PACO Group, Inc. (PACO) is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Construction Engineer to support WMATA's capital improvement, rehabilitation, and state of good repair programs. This role blends technical engineering expertise with hands-on construction management, ensuring that project designs are accurately executed, safely delivered, and meet WMATA's high standards for quality and compliance.

In this role, you will work closely with project managers, contractors, architects, and other stakeholders to interpret construction documents, monitor on-site activities, and provide technical guidance throughout the project lifecycle. Your contributions will be essential in maintaining project timelines, upholding quality standards, and ensuring adherence to safety and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Document Review & Technical Analysis:
- Evaluate construction plans, blueprints, and technical documents to confirm compliance with WMATA specifications and industry standards.
- Assist in identifying technical challenges and propose effective solutions to ensure project success.
- Project Coordination & Communication:
- Collaborate with project teams and contractors to facilitate smooth communication and coordination throughout the construction process.
- Participate in project meetings, providing technical insights and updates on construction progress.
- On-Site Oversight & Quality Assurance:
- Conduct regular field inspections to monitor construction activities, ensuring adherence to project plans, quality benchmarks, and safety protocols.
- Identify any issues or deviations early on, working with teams to implement corrective actions promptly.
- Compliance & Safety Management:
- Ensure that all construction activities comply with WMATA's regulatory standards, safety guidelines, and environmental policies.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, quality tests, and other relevant documentation.
- Reporting & Documentation:
- Prepare detailed progress reports, documenting milestones, challenges, and the status of corrective measures.
- Assist in the preparation of change orders and other project documentation to support contract administration.
- Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in construction engineering or project engineering, preferably within transit or large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
- Proficiency with construction management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- In-depth knowledge of construction methodologies, building codes, and quality control processes.
- Communication & Collaboration:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
- Proven organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Additional Requirements:
- A valid driver's license is preferred.
- Must be able to pass required background checks and clearances.
