Description

Position Summary: The General Manager is responsible to the Ownership of the Club, performing all duties necessary in the proper management and control of the property and business affairs of Wing & Barrel Ranch. The General Manager is responsible for managing all operations of Wing & Barrel Ranch consistent with the direction and policies established by the Owners as well as by the rules, policies, and standards of the Club, which the General Manager is expected to develop in conjunction with the Owners and management team.

The General Manager will create standards and monitor the quality of the Club's staff, products, and services to ensure maximum member and guest satisfaction and will endeavor to ensure an atmosphere of gracious hospitality, friendliness, and goodwill.

The General Manager leads and develops a team of direct reports including the Executive Chef, Front of the House Manager, Operations Manager, Sporting Operations Manager, Retail Manager, Director of Membership Sales & Communications, Director of Member Events & Services, and has a dotted-line management relationship to the Financial Controller.

This is an exempt role with core working hours Wednesday through Sunday from 9AM to 6PM, however hours outside of this schedule are often required to fully perform this role.

Essential Duties: As follows below

Member Services:

As custodian of the Club's culture, provide quality leadership and a positive image for the

Club and its facilities and amenities to the membership, staff, and community.
Ensure smooth, efficient daily operations of the Club in a high-end private club environment with exceptional hunting, sporting, and social facilities, and programming.
Plan his/her work schedule to be visible and readily accessible to members and their guests.
Develop and execute excellent hunting, sporting, and social programming, services, and amenities for members and their guests.
Shape and ensure a first-class, diverse dining program with appropriately priced menus supported by exemplary service.
Address and resolve member complaints and suggestions tactfully and in a timely manner.
With and through the Club's Membership Sales Manager, develop and support the ongoing process of external, transitional, and internal marketing. Create an excellent onboarding process for new members ensuring quick integration with the membership.

Membership Sales (30-45%):

Works in conjunction with the CEO and Director of Memberships on the development and implementation of the club's membership sales plan including programs and events for membership marketing. Develops department budget, including sales goals, program expenses, and timetable.
Achieves the club's monthly enrollment targets by meeting with prospective members to inform them of the club's membership opportunities and unique benefits and features.
Conducts site tours and arranges sporting clay shoots and hunts for prospective members.
Performs effective follow-up to convert prospects into members.
Engage key staff and club members in the membership enrollment process as appropriate.
Establishes an excellent rapport with new and existing members to receive referrals and to enlist them in helping with conversion.
Informs existing and prospective members of increases in joining fees, upgrade opportunities, and policy or practice changes in the membership programs.
Maintains an accurate database of all prospective members to follow-up with prospects on a timely basis and tracking sales.
Provides input into membership sales reports, working with the General Manager. Participates in meetings to review reports and progress.
Keeps appropriate staff members aware of prospecting efforts and status, new member enrollments, and resignations. Enlists their support in enrolling new members, new member orientation, and "saving" resigning members.
Oversee the Guest Policy, interacting with repeat guests, and discussing new member proposals with member hosts.
Represents the club in the community and regional activities and organizations to provide local awareness of the club and to develop sources for prospective members.
Works with CEO to execute vision of Wing & Barrel Foundation, its strategic planning and fundraising.
Highly visible in interactions with members and guests.
Distributes Membership Application via Adobe Sign to qualified leads.
Creates Membership Agreements and sends via Adobe Sign.
Inputs New Member into system, Brivo Pass and on-boards new member by sending initial welcome email.
Maintains membership sales totals and provides weekly/monthly sales goal updates.
Enters new Member into Clubessentials.
Follows up with new member to ensure Initiation Deposit is completed in agreed upon time frame.
Reconciles Initiation Deposits with membership sales totals to ensure cash flow is correct.

Employee Relations:

Act as a leader and role model for all employees by demonstrating professional behavior and work ethic. Ultimately responsible for all day-to-day employee matters and shaping the organizational architecture of the staffing model.
Nurture a deeply committed service culture club-wide that is focused on member satisfaction, member recognition, anticipatory service, and understanding of member preferences to enhance the member experience.
Collaborate with Human Resources and Ownership on matters of compensation, benefits, performance evaluation, disciplinary, and other significant personnel actions.
Lead in recruitment process for key roles, including interviewing and evaluating candidates. for key positions. Approve all hiring with department heads and lead the search process for department heads when required.
Provide excellent on-boarding, and training of personnel. Create a culture of ongoing development and learning to promote cohesiveness and effective teamwork.
Foster a culture of teamwork and accountability. Create a positive and healthy work environment throughout the Club.

Country to recruit and retain the highest quality staff.
Actively work with department heads to set goals and provide formal and informal feedback through the company's Performance Management program. Ensure clear performance standards for each department and department head.

Financial Management:

Collaborate with the Financial Controller in annual operating and capital budgets and forecasts. Manage, control, and report on all operations and projects to attain the desired results.
Oversee a standardized operating and capital system that is zero-based annually and involves all senior managers establishing ownership for their respective areas of the business. Have in place excellent reporting whereby course corrective action may be taken efficiently.
Responsible for maintaining excellent capital and operating budget systems that involve all responsible parties (generally department heads), holding them accountable for agreed upon results.
Maintain high functioning management information systems and monitor compliance of internal controls and cost-effective operating procedures while consistently delivering an exceptional member experience.
Use related information to ensure excellent decision making at all levels of the organization.
Ensure that the Club has a comprehensive and ongoing Capital Reserve Study that dovetails with future capital needs and corresponding scenarios.

Club Management:

Responsible for the care and maintenance of the physical plant and facilities, ensuring that an ongoing preventive maintenance program is in effect and that a safe environment is provided for employees and members.
Assume responsibility for all Club administration and community relations including those relationships with local city agencies and law enforcement. Assure the Club operates in accordance with applicable local, state, federal laws.
Drive the planning of social and sporting activities of the Club. Ensure the implementation of Club plans and programs.
Consult with Ownership on policy and operations of each department; suggest changes when appropriate and direct the implementation of agreed-upon change.
Responsible for the security of Club property and its environs.
Delegate appropriate authority to department heads yet remain responsible for all operations of the Club.
Participate in appropriate Club Managers Association of America (CMAA) seminars and conferences, and other industry events as approved, to enhance his/her value to the Club and its membership.

Communications:

Maintain ongoing dialogue and rapport with members year-round through engagement, communication, and timely promotions of club activities.
Keep Ownership informed of all material matters and issues.
Through working closely with all department heads of the Club and developing an internal communication system, ensure that key personnel are kept informed on a timely basis of the programs and events to be held at the Club.
Working with the Marketing team, implement a comprehensive communications plan to effectively engage the membership through segmented and personalized content via print, web, digital, mobile, and social media channels.

Capital Project Management:

Provide supervision and administrative support and act as a focal point for all capital projects, including construction and renovation.
Manage vendors and contractors in conformance with agreed-upon contracts, timelines, and various measures of performance.
Ensure proper communication with Ownership, other stakeholders, and the membership as appropriate about progress on respective projects.

Inherently a trainer and coach to all levels of staff with the ability to successfully assess talent when hiring, as well as effectively retain productive and dedicated staff members.
A strong understanding of a club's physical plant s and their maintenance requirements both short and long-term.
Is comfortably knowledgeable about hunting and shooting operations with the ability to work cooperatively with each department's professional; can provide oversight and support specifically with the HR, communication, and budgetary elements of these departments.
Well-organized with a strong ability to set priorities and delegate effectively with appropriate follow-up and oversight. Proactive with the ability to anticipate and resolve potential issues.

Education/Experience:
A college graduate with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management or equivalent is required.
Professional certifications (CHA, CCM, CCE) or similar professional development achievements are highly desired.
Has been an established General Manager with a career track record managing highly regarded private hunting clubs and/or sporting clubs with exceptional culinary experiences.
Experience in a broad range of hunting and sporting activities is highly desired, both active involvement and operations management.
Experience and success in selling membership and overseeing membership development for clubs similar in scale, culture, and offerings as Wing & Barrel Ranch.
Experience leading a club and its related activities with a very sophisticated membership.
A record of success in the selection, development, training, and motivation of an accomplished, service-oriented staff in a high-end, member-focused environment.
Experience in implementing a comprehensive Human Resources (HR) system that includes performance management/appraisals as well as other HR best practices in a club environment.
A professional career "track record" of achievement and relative employment

stability.

Has played a critical role in the successful opening the clubhouse on time and within the established budget. Has leveraged prior experiences and knowledge to help through the construction of the Clubhouse.
Has created robust, interesting, comprehensive social and sporting program that entices members to visit the Club.
Enthusiastically creates relationships with all members, especially vintner members to leverage their access to wine, culinary talent and their customers who may be targets for membership.
From the onset of opening the Club, has created a high touch, member centric service culture, property-wide that reflects the style of the sport and culinary expectation of the membership.

Computer Skills:

Proficiency with Club Essentials, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
