In this role, you will collaborate closely with our engineering and production teams to build robust document processing workflows, leveraging expertise in PDF and print technologies, including Crawford Technologies, Solimar Systems, or similar transform tools.

We are seeking a Senior Document Solutions Engineer to drive the design, development, and maintenance of high-quality software solutions used to convert, manipulate, and optimize print streams for high-volume transactional printing. In this role, you will collaborate closely with our engineering and production teams to build robust document processing workflows, leveraging expertise in PDF and print technologies, including Crawford Technologies, Solimar Systems, or similar transform tools.
In this role, you will (responsibilities):
- Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot workflows for PDF generation, processing, and manipulation
- Implement solutions for custom font handling, font encoding, embedding, and text rendering in PDF documents.
- Leverage PDF tools (e.g., PDFLib (via PHP), Quadient, Crawford Technologies) to enhance document functionality and automation.
- Integrate, test, and maintain PDF generation and printing features in software applications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet client requirements for print-ready documents.
- Ensure compliance with PDF standards (e.g., PDF/A, PDF/UA, PDF/X) and optimize for accessibility and usability.
- Support print workflows, including prepress optimization and troubleshooting issues with printers or production systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, including escalations from Software Engineers.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of technical documentation.
- Stay current with PDF/print industry trends and best practices in software development.
- Participate in the planning and estimation of development tasks.
- Participate in an on-call rotation handling off hours escalations

Requirements
- Expertise with PDF workflows and solutions (Crawford Technology, PDFLib library, Quadient, Adobe, iText, or similar)
- Print industry experience, especially with print stream conversion and transformation (PDF, AFP, PostScript, PCL, etc.)
- Expertise with PHP, MySQL, SFTP, Amazon Web Services, Linux.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities.
