General Description:
The Project/Process Engineer III - Special Projects is responsible for providing technical support to the rubber and composite product manufacturing area. This position will primarily focus on providing engineering services to multiple programs with manufacturing processes under development or that are complex. The position requires a strong understanding of and experience with rubber and/or composite product manufacturing methods including molding, hand lay-up and autoclave cure techniques. On a daily basis, the engineer may interact with all levels of the organization, customers and suppliers. Good interpersonal communication and group interaction skills along with a hands-on style are essential. Travel of 2 weeks per year minimum may be required. This is a salaried exempt position reporting to the Engineering Manager.

- Chemical, Material Sciences, or Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 10 year experience in rubber and/or composite product manufacture directly related to REDAR processes
- Minimum 3 year experience within the defense or aerospace industries

- Certified in lean manufacturing and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing is preferred
- Proficient with MS Office
- Capable of quick response times
- Good speaking, writing, communication and presentation skills
Specific Tasks and Focus Areas:
- Contract Review and Engineering Readiness
- Review customer contracts and technical documents
- Ensure customer has adequately defined and documented the technical requirements
- Validate REDAR capability to meet technical requirements
- Conduct engineering readiness to transform customer requirements into an internal technical document package
- New product development
- Perform manufacturability reviews and record results
- Support tool design efforts
- Conduct process development and product development trials
- Coordinate product qualification efforts and support the generation of quality plans
- Perform the check function for REDAR technical documents and tool drawings
- Project Engineering
- Create Statements of Work for engineering jobs/projects and oversee and report on effort
- Support the specification, acquisition, installation and qualification of equipment
- Support evaluation of new sources of supply
- Process Engineering
- Maintain REDAR's technical document package
- Conduct process and/or methods improvement activities
- Team Leader and process owner for PFMEA activities on assigned Programs
- Troubleshoot product/process issues
- Support evaluation of customer returns
- Provide training on methods, tooling and equipment
- Evaluate material/supplies and specify to REDAR process
- Evaluate engineering changes and incorporate as determined necessary
- Provide assistance and support to production work groups and for implementation of lean manufacturing methodologies
- NCR Board member
- Participate in review of non-conforming product and material as required
- Conduct failure analysis to identify root cause as required
- Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions
- Provide technical support for sales and marketing efforts
- Quoting support and development of Statements of Work as required
- Technical interface with customers in conjunction with Product Managers
