SUMMARY OF ASSIGNMENT
Under the general direction of the Assistant Director of Special Education, the behavior program manager is responsible for success classroom program oversight, professional development and coordination of professional development in MTSS, PBIS, Right Response, Ukeru, and deployment of behavior specialists to support students.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Schedule and provide oversight of monthly interdisciplinary staff meetings, assist with safety meetings, behavior services team building, goalsetting, and professional development.
Collaborate and consult with district administrators, school administrators and district staff in the planning, implementation and evaluation of behavior intervention services for students.
Exhibits mastery of instructional strategies suitable for children in success programming
Evaluates program effectiveness, including successful behavioral support, and adapts strategies based on assessment results.
Directs and develops behavioral support staff by creating schedules, providing guidance, consultation, and mentorship, and answering education-related questions.
Provide technical assistance and support in the area of behavior analysis and intervention.
Provide school and district wide training in the area of behavior, social skills and interventions.
Provide, at times, direct services to appropriate students.
Provide behavioral analysis and intervention planning services for students.
Consult with and support various district staff such as general education teachers, special education teachers, and counselors.
Collaborates with Teaching and Learning and College and Career readiness staff on MTSS, PBIS and counseling services district wide.
Develops and maintains behavioral support guidelines by creating and updating district procedures and practice documents and providing input for board policy changes.
Assures quality of delivery of services by developing and interpreting district, local and state guidelines for behavior, MTSS, PBIS.
Collaborates with staff to address educational concerns that require district support beyond the building level.
Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training.
Supports staff by coaching and mentoring and evaluating their performance.
Maintains a cooperative relationship among staff by communicating information and leading team-building activities.
Ensure maintenance of program statistics and services data.
Train staff or coordinate training in the following areas, including but not limited to IEPs, Classroom Management, Right Response, Ukeru, Isolation and Restraint, and Behavior guidelines and program requirements.
Coordinates and assists programs related to school safety.
Coordinates training for staff in FERPA and public records compliance procedures.
Assists the Assistant Director in ensuring compliance to federal, state, program, and agency regulations, such as, Child Protective Service reporting requirements, and emergency preparedness program, as appropriate.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
Baccalaureate degree in Special Education or related field.
Three years' prior experience in Special Education preferred.
Knowledge of behavior regulations and educational policies.
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Certification and Licenses
Washington state special education teaching certification.
Washington state administrative certification or in the process of obtaining.
Successful fingerprint and background check.
First Aid/CPR card within ninety (90) days from date of hire.
Valid Washington State driver's license and proof of insurance.
Documents needed to obtain access to Joint Base Lewis McChord (JBLM).

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Extensive knowledge of an experience with evidence-based behavior interventions, data collection, functional behavior assessments and behavior intervention plans.
Demonstrates skills needed to develop, implement and evaluate behavior intervention plans, functional behavioral assessments for the purpose of addressing the needs of individual students.
Certification to train in crisis prevention techniques.
Demonstrates the knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations regarding behavior intervention in the school setting.
Coaching and mentoring skills.
Strong organizational skills.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Ability to relate effectively with children, families, community members, and staff of diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
Knowledge of early childhood education trends at the local, state, and national levels.
Ability to proficiently keyboard, utilize word processing, spreadsheet, database, and scheduling software; navigate the internet; and operate email applications.
Ability to effectively organize and prioritize tasks with conflicting deadlines.
Ability to take initiative and work independently.
Ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information.
Ability to exercise sound decision making skills.
Ability to mentor, advocate for and support health care professionals' needs.
Access to personal transportation.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in special education.
Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification or completed coursework.
Experience working as an educator in an urban public school system.
Experience in planning and implementing professional development activities.
Demonstrates skills in collaboration and consultation.
Demonstrates ability to work with systems to foster change.
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to interpret educational data for instructional purposes.
Demonstrates the ability to coordinate across general and special education systems and services to implement effective planning for students.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in a regular office and school environments. Travel to and between school sites is necessary. Must be able to use fingers, hands, and arms, and to listen carefully and focus while filtering out normal office noise. Ability to speak and see clearly; sit or stand for prolonged periods of time; lift 35 pounds; and bend, twist, walk, and reach requiring ordinary physical effort are all required. Expected to attend evening meetings. Exposure to normal levels of office dust, VDT screens, and office machines and their required chemicals, are part of the job. Maybe exposed to ill or infected students as part of the job. The employee is required to deal with distraught and/or angry people and is exposed to infectious diseases carried by children.

Employment with Clover Park School District is conditional pending completion of a Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation fingerprint background check as required by RCW28A.400.303.
