Job description
The Occupational Therapist provides assessment services to children, group services to students and educators, consultations to families, and builds community capacity. They assess, plan, and carry out individual or group programs of treatment appropriate to the child's health requirements and daily living environment designed to help children live, play and work with optimum physical and behavioral functioning. The Occupational Therapist uses dynamic, team-based and community partner approaches for the health and well-being of children and families.
Required Qualifications and Skills
A degree in occupational therapy or combined physical/ occupational therapy.
6 months minimum clinical pediatric experience
Registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of BC
Understanding of the types and appropriate use of developmental and screening assessments; experience conducting assessments and preparing reports
Knowledge of the broader medical, social, educational, and behavioral aspects of disabling conditions and their impact on the child and family
Good organization, time, and general management skills
Proven ability to of efficient use of computer and appropriate software effectively to complete the positions' work on time. This includes at a minimum file management, e-mail, multiple client relations software platforms, and word processing skills.
Excellent interpersonal behavior and communication skills
