Clayton Technology is undertaking a major, multi-year initiative to modernize, simplify and strengthen our core infrastructure, ultimately impacting or replacing most of our systems. The Senior Director of Retail Technology will lead teams that enable and support our Clayton Retail Business Unit, including the technology needs of our Retail Corporate Office, 400+ Home Center and 20+ House Smart Construction locations. As Senior Director of Retail Technology, you and your team will partner with Executive Leadership, Operations, Accounting, Human Resources and other shared service Technology Teams to develop strategy, design, implement, rollout and support technology solutions that enable Retail, and Clayton overall, to deliver on our vision of becoming a National Housing Brand. You will work with business and technology leadership across all of Clayton to develop, influence and execute our overarching program plan and schedule, assemble and manage project teams, identify and resolve project risks and issues, and communicate progress and status to the accountable Executive Leadership Team.

In addition to the responsibilities related directly to the Retail business, as a Senior Director within the technology organization you will support the development of the overall Clayton Technology Strategy and own execution of portions of that strategy across all of Clayton Technology.

Responsibilities:
  • Accountable for the strategy, planning, implementation and support of retail technology platforms with annual budget responsibilities in excess of $20M.
  • Lead, manage and develop a team of 5-6 managers and senior individual contributors with a full team of 50+ team members and third-party contractors spanning onsite and remote locations.
  • Accountable for the implementation and support of systems and technologies supporting the Clayton Retail Business Unit.
  • Lead a team of portfolio managers, project managers, architects, systems analysts, software engineers and quality assurance resources in the delivery of business-critical technology services.
  • Implementation of highly visible and multi-faceted projects.
  • Ensures projects are delivered within scope, schedule, budget and quality levels are consistent with customer expectations.
  • Partner with other technology departments to jointly plan, develop and deliver on shared service capabilities such as customer digital experience, customer relationship management, technology infrastructure, finance, HR, and end user support services
  • Contribute to overall Clayton Technology Strategy and maturity efforts including owning cross department unit processes and projects.
  • Act as the chief communicator within and across teams, ensuring clear and effective communication.
  • Set and monitor team goals, providing feedback, performance reviews, and celebrating team successes.
  • Build strong relationships and deep knowledge and expertise of our Retail and related business.
  • Build strong relationships across all Clayton Technology leadership and departments.


Qualifications:
  • 10+ years' technology experience
  • 5+ years' technology leadership experience
  • Successful track record of delivering technology projects of very high complexity
  • Successful track record of growing and developing teams and team members
  • Execution-oriented, and able to complete tasks independently in a timely manner
  • Self-driven, detail-oriented leader who actively works to remove barriers and achieve results
  • Previous experience leading teams to implement and supporting both SAAS and custom development platforms
  • Previous experience migrating on premise applications to cloud based SAAS platforms
  • Previous experience with a manufacturing, retail, insurance, and/or financial services organization
  • Previous experience delivering and supporting technology solutions to multiple remote location organizations
  • Must understand concepts of agile software development methods, the underlying principles that govern them and how multi-year program delivery works in concert with Agile
  • Strategic thinker, with analytical and problem-solving skills, who can identify and articulate connections across separate, but related concepts, and works well in cross-functional teams
  • Must possess strong written and oral communications skills
  • Employ Project Management techniques, tools and methods proficiently
