Duties Description RESPONSIBILITIES:
Independently diagnose, treat, prescribe, and provide general medical care and treatment services in a 252-bed skilled nursing facility for veterans and their dependents. Provide medical leadership and supervision, in collaboration with FNPs, to provide quality health care services, while also ensuring compliance with clinical, statutory, and regulatory standards. You will be caring for an assigned service of residents. You will see residents routinely, document visits, collaborate with colleagues, perform admissions, and attend interdisciplinary care team reviews, along with other Clinical responsibilities
Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Possession of a license and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, plus one year of post-licensure medical experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Be board certified in internal medicine or family medicine with SNF experience and/or geriatrics fellowship trained FM/IM. Licensed to practice medicine in NY without restrictions. Have an active DEA license and must be comfortable with entry of clinical documentation/orders into EMR systems.
This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS).
For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title maybe filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply.
At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in a NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.
