Responsibilities
What you'll be doing:
- Ensuring optimal operation of multi-user computer systems, collaborating with network engineers and software developers.
- Managing system resources to enhance CPU and disk efficiency and responsiveness.
- Administering system security, setting up user accounts and profiles, and ensuring compliance with the latest standards.
- Providing comprehensive support, from Tier 1 troubleshooting to Tier 2 problem resolution.
- Optimizing system performance, oversee software installations, and manage storage solutions.
- Evaluating new technologies and make recommendations on hardware and software acquisitions.
- Ensuring rigorous application of security settings and conduct regular security assessments.
Qualifications
Required Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in related field of study with 8 or more years of experience. Additional 4 years experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
- Security+ or other IAT II/III level certification that is currently active.
- Experience working in an AWS environment and familiarity with console accesses to provision, maintain and monitor servers.
- Performing snapshots, backups, disaster recovery, performance tuning Installation, STIG hardening, patching.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills (including scripting and audit log review) and Tier 1 communication skills.
- Strong Linux skills (CentOS, RHEL, and/or Oracle).
Preferred Skills:
- PKI certificates, SSL, service accounts.
- Experience developing and maintaining critical documentation (SIPs, SAGs, SUMs, SOPs, Getting started guides).
- Experience with ElasticSearch.
- Cloud (EC2s, S3, Elasticache), Kafka, Openshift, Docker, Keycloak, Wildfly.
- Maintaining multiple environment types (physical, virtual, cloud).
- Experience supporting security audits and testing events.
- Experience upgrading from CentOS to RHEL 8 is a nice to have but not a must as long as candidates have strong Linux experience.
