About The Role
The Human Resources Generalist will be responsible for general human resources execution for our growing biotechnology startup company. This position will own human resources tactical and compliance functions and other duties in people operations as needed, including benefits administration, employee documentation, payroll administration, leave management, employee relations, and more. This position reports to the Director, Human Resources, and is a full-time, in-person position in Boulder, Colorado, working standard business hours, but may require occasional flexibility to work diverse schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

This role is hiring at an annual salary of $80,000.00 - $95,000.00 and is eligible for equity offerings. What You Will Do
Benefits Administration
- Primary administrator of employee benefits programs, such as health insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, employee assistance program, leave administration, and open enrollment processes.
- Develop and deliver benefits education and training to all employees, including during open enrollment, qualifying life events, onboarding, and periodically based on needs or as directed.
- Responds to and resolves employee concerns on employee benefits programs with close collaboration and escalation with benefits partners and vendors as needed.
- Collaborate with broader HR team to help inform benefit updates and improvements to best serve our employees.
- Management and regular audit of all employee benefit payroll deductions to ensure the accuracy of employee payroll deductions and associated collaboration and communication with accounting/finance department.
- Manage and execute all HSA, FSA, and 401k contributions to ensure all contributions are accurately and timely submitted.
Employee File and Documentation Management
- Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential employee file documentation, including personal information and required employment documentation to ensure personnel files are accurate, organized, and accessible.
- Maintain all industry specific employee documentation such as required CV's, official credentials, training certificates, and other documentation. Work with all associated departments to maintain appropriate access for audit purposes.
- Maintain central employee database to ensure real-time accuracy and ensure updates are timely made as needed.
Payroll Administration
- Maintain all employee records in payroll software (Gusto) to ensure real-time accuracy, and process all necessary changes related to personal, work, job, compensation, and benefit information.
- Complete all pre-payroll reviews in a timely manner to ensure accuracy of timecards and benefit updates.
- Collaborate with accounting/finance department to resolve all payroll issues or process improvements.
Leave Management
- Manage and own all leave administration and documentation to ensure compliance in accordance with Federal, State, and company policies.
- Assist in building and implementing companywide leave program that is 50 state compliant in anticipation of company growth.
- Collaborate and communicate with leaders and employees to coordinate proper leave administration.
New Hire Onboarding Coordination
- Facilitate new hire onboarding process and communications to ensure an exceptional new hire experience. This includes new hire communication, scheduling all necessary onboarding sessions, hosting necessary HR sessions, and coordinating with all necessary departments for specific onboarding needs.
- Manage onboarding feedback documentation and assist in process and general new hire experience improvements.
Additional Responsibilities
- Assist in maintaining HR intranet resource pages to ensure the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding company benefits, policy, communications, and self-service resources is conveyed.
- Provide support where needed for facilities, event planning, and other needs.
- Assist in general office management as needed.
- Assist with broader HR projects and initiatives as needed.
- Additional responsibilities as assigned.
What You Will Bring
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, organizational development, business administration, or related field, required.
- 3+ years of experience working in a full-time human resources role required, with previous biopharma or biotechnology work experience preferred.
- PHR, SPHR, or SHRM-CP certification preferred.
- Knowledge of US employment compliance requirements, including federal, state, and local laws required, with deep knowledge of Colorado and California law preferred.
- Excellent command of general HR expertise and knowledge.
- Expertise in employee benefits administration and education.
- Experience managing end-to-end payroll processes.
- Experience and success in customer service with attention to detail and accuracy in work product.
- Comfortable working in an atmosphere requiring high flexibility and problem solving.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to solve complex problems with autonomy.
- Ability to successfully complete assigned projects on tight deadlines with accuracy.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse population.
- Willingness and ability to work on-site five days per week in Boulder, CO
