Communication Manager, Global Colleague Communications
Hybrid
Kitchener / Waterloo or Toronto
The Opportunity
16-month contract position
Reporting to the Director of Communications, you'll be a key member of our talented Global Colleague Communications team; an awesome team that provides best-in-class executive and colleague communications and events in support of our Executive Leadership team across the business. In this role, you'll develop and execute robust communication strategies to help us deliver our top strategic priorities globally and at the business unit level. While project work will vary across groups, this role will focus primarily on support for our Global Technology organization.
Key Responsibilities
Drive holistic executive communications support for some of Manulife's most senior leaders, globally
Develop integrated communications plans, and bring them to life through inspiring programs and deliverables, and consistently measure to ensure we're delivering on our commitments
Build strategic partnerships with key global business partners to gather and share relevant information to ensure colleagues are connected to our global mission, understand our strategy and the role they play in it, take pride in the products and services we offer, and are engaged in our award-winning culture
Collaborate with segment and global communications colleagues to ensure consistent messaging, appropriate positioning, timing and language
Provide direction and liaise with service providers: branding and creative, translation, web and production
Be an engaged and active member of Manulife's Global Colleague Communications team
Skills Required
A strong influencer, comfortable advising and partnering with senior executives
Exceptional writing and story-telling skills with the ability to dig through and simplify complex content turning it into clear and compelling messaging for various audiences.
Significant experience with internal / corporate communications including: strategy communication, transformation messaging, engagement, HR/people, culture and brand)
Digital-first, audience first mindset
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities, sometimes with tight timelines
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to influence, negotiate and build consensus
A high degree of comfort working in an environment of transformation, where change is a constant
Strong attention to detail
Innovative, creative, proactive self-starter with a keen sense of urgency and initiative
Ability to work both independently and as part of a distributed team
Advanced proficiency Office 365 applications
Experience & Education Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in marketing, communications, English, journalism or related field
8+ years of experience in internal/corporate communications
External communications/thought leadership experience an asset but not required
Large- and small-scale event management experience
Experience working with a shared services team and in a complex matrix environment
Experience working with technologists / technology organizations, an asset
