Job Description

Purpose:

Under direction of the AED of Ambulatory Care Services, assists in the coordination and evaluation of the activities, projects and programs of the Office of Ambulatory Care Services with Direct oversight of WIC program operations. Participates in implementation and monitoring of NYC Health + Hospitals ambulatory care policy. Provides consultation and technical assistance to NYC Health + Hospitals facilities in program development, monitoring and evaluation. Assists in the coordination of activities of the System's ambulatory programs/WIC Programs, including outpatient departments, emergency rooms, diagnostic and treatment centers and home health services, where appropriate, in order to maintain the System's goals and objectives of providing optimal ambulatory care services/ WIC program services.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

The Assistant Director of Ambulatory Care Services is charged with and responsible for:
  • Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the WIC Program.
  • Oversight of the WIC Budget. Coordinate changes with Finance.
  • Develop policies and procedures to adhere to the WIC regulatory guidelines.
  • Provide education/clarification to staff on all state mandated Policies & Procedures.
  • Identify required DOH training needs of entire staff and ensure completion.
  • Generate and submit monthly statistics and tracking reports required by DOH.
  • Revise local agency policies as appropriate to meet regulatory standards.
  • Interview, hire & train all incoming staff.
  • Responsible for the scheduling of staff for weekends, after hours, etc.
  • Time and attendance of all staff.
  • Completion and submission of staff evaluations to H.R. on a timely manner.
  • Attends State Department of Health conferences and meetings.
  • Attends central office meetings.
  • Participate in DOH and central office WebEx's for updates on WIC program.
  • Oversight of Voter Registration Program for WIC patients.
  • Maintain Citywide Immunization Registry for WIC patients.
  • Increase clientele on a yearly basis.
  • Ordering of all supplies, educational materials, furniture and IT needs through DOH funding
  • Undertakes special projects and assignments, as directed
  • Serves as deputy for areas of assigned responsibilities.


Minimum Qualifications
1. A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Social Sciences, Management, Health Care Administration or related discipline; and,
2. Six (6) years of full-time paid experience of program development in a hospital or health care facility in meeting community health needs, health care planning, financial planning, operations and analysis and implementation in an administrative, consultative, managerial or executive capacity; or,
3. A master's degree from an accredited college or university and five (5) years of full-time paid experience at the level indicated in (2) above.
4. Demonstrated skills in written and medical communications; or,
5. A satisfactory equivalent of education, training and experience.
