The Ministry of Highways has an exciting opportunity to build your career as a permanent Project Manager on the Traffic Engineering and Development team.

This position will work from the Saskatoon office to plan, analyze, and evaluate the safe and efficient operation of the highway network in the central part of the province. The role will work with a wide variety of staff from the Ministry, as well as private industry, provincial and municipal governments and stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will have education and experience related to Transportation Engineering and demonstrate an understanding of traffic operations and safety principles relating to roadway operation. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading technical reviews and client management of traffic impact assessments, safety audits, consultant planning studies, internal assessments, and development applications. Strong organizational and time management skills, leadership abilities, and communication skills are essential. The role requires the successful candidate to work independently to complete and prioritize tasks while contributing to a high-paced team environment.

Knowledge of geometric design principles, safe systems approach, traffic modelling software, basic construction methodologies, general highway maintenance, hydraulic design, and traffic guidance systems are aspects of this role. Candidates will have a demonstrated ability to analyze and evaluate engineering safety countermeasures, use a variety of software programs, establish relationships with stakeholders, and communicate technical problems and solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences. You will be capable of conducting site visits and field reviews to gather observational data relating to roadway safety and operations and correlating observations to appropriate and innovative solutions.

Applicants should possess a BSc. Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent and be eligible for registration in the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS).
