Position Description
TARGET ENTRY SALARY: $126,612 - $139,273 DOQ
The General Services Director directs, coordinates, and plans all internal fleet, building maintenance, and radio communication operations. Leads planning, budget preparation, project management, personnel management, and general legal and contract matters.

Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions: -- Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following representative duties, knowledge, and skills. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Directs, oversees, and coordinates the internal fleet, building maintenance, and all radio communications and functions.
  • Authors, develops, and implements broad policies and programs and general operational procedures; develops and establishes methods to address individual and special projects, defines areas where efficiency can be improved, and manages the effectiveness of new procedures.
  • Plans and directs long and short-range plans for expansion of fleet, building and maintenance, and radio operations; oversees additions to staff, equipment, and facilities; assists in the extension and enhancement of services.
  • Develops, determines, and directs budget preparation, development and implementation; manages and submits information on general service and internal service funds; administers the budget and prepares statistical analysis, reports, studies, and estimates of rates, revenues, and financial operations.
  • Handles, coordinates, and facilitates all legal and contract matters relating to fleet, building and maintenance, and radio communications; provides negotiations and facilitates execution of all contracts for services.
  • Performs field inspections of fleet, building maintenance, and radio work to ensure operations are occurring effectively and efficiently; monitors compliance with all departmental standards and City ordinances.
  • Attends various meetings and collaborates with other departments, agencies, vendors, and staff; addresses citizen and commercial complaints or concerns and addresses issues professionally.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Licenses, Certifications, and Equipment:
A valid State driver's license is required.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Public or Business Administration, or a related field AND five (5) years of professional level experience in the development and administration of programs in the assigned field; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
