Job Type: Full-Time
Starting Salary Range: $155,303. - $197,313.


Position Summary:
Reports to the Chief Operations Officer. Strategically plans, directs, and controls activities of the Operations Process Support Departments (Asset Management, Operation Technology, Project Engineering, Work Management) to support the Operations' Business Owners (Directors, Electric T&D, Elect & Steam Production, and Water Operations) towards accomplishing corporate goals and objectives.

Essential Functions:

  • Strategically plan activities related to supporting the Operations Business Owners objectives and customer expectations, sets and manages priorities.
  • Ensure that the ISO 55000 asset management system, PMBOK and IPSEC practices are implemented and compliant with the applicable standards.
  • Ensure that organizational Asset Management and Work Management Department systems are implemented in the Operations support departments.
  • Leads continual improvement initiatives for the Operations support departments.
  • Adheres to and complies with required documentation and procedures as required by outside agencies (i.e., NERC, MISO, Reliability-First, OSHA, MIOSHA, etc.).
  • Strategically directs a large highly skilled, technology based, and diverse workforce. Develops and maintains employee skills, knowledge, and performance.
  • Interprets, implements, and coordinates major goals, programs, and activities toward the accomplishment of organizational objectives.
  • Establishes and monitors divisional key performance indicators that are consistent with organizational objectives and take corrective actions when necessary.
  • Maintains a professional level of requisite knowledge in areas of responsibility.
  • Prepares department budget, tracks, and approves expenditures.
  • Establishes and maintains divisional quality procedures and practices for safe and reliable systems.
  • Keeps abreast of new developments, safety issues, and technology.
  • Promotes collaboration, knowledge sharing and teamwork between Operational Technology (OT) and Information Technology (IT)
  • Prepares and maintains reports reflecting divisional operations and writes special reports as required.
  • Communicate with other departments and management to resolve problems and expedite work.
  • Reviews and checks work of subordinates such as reports, records, schedules and applications for accuracy and content; corrects errors.
  • Expected to comply with all BWL policies and work rules.
  • Reliable and predictable attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Job Specifications:
Required:
  • This position requires knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired through a bachelor's degree in engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • This position requires a minimum of ten years of previous experience in utility operations required.
  • Must have a minimum of five years of previous significant leadership experience.
  • Knowledge and/or training is required for specialized computer applications and web-reporting systems, and any other installed systems.
  • Knowledge relating to industry operations standard practices (i.e., ISO 55000, PMBOK, NERC).
  • The ideal candidate will have excellent skills and a track record in the following areas: meeting organizational expectations, producing a high-quality work product, customer service, collaboration, oral and written communication, project management, planning and coordinating, business case development, budgeting concepts, motivating staff, tenacity, and assertiveness.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
  • Must keep abreast of new technologies and skills.
  • Valid Michigan driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Preferred:
  • Michigan Professional Engineer license preferred.

Must be able to remain in a stationary position for the majority of the working day. The person in this position needs to move about inside the office environment. Constantly operates a computer and other office equipment. Ability to adjust focus, especially due to concentration on a computer screen. Must communicate frequently with other departments and employees both verbally and in writing. May need to lift and carry up to 30 pounds and/or position the body to reach items on the floor/ below the knee level or reach above head. On occasion, may need to use stairs.

Constantly works in a temperature-controlled office environment.
