POSITION SUMMARY

The Value Stream Manager oversees the production flow of parts and products through our stainless-steel value stream within our Dallas, Texas based Skyways operations. This role focuses on optimizing efficiency, minimizing waste, and ensuring high quality throughout the entire value stream, from raw materials to finished goods, while maintaining a safe, efficient operation. Works closely with the Skyways Division Leadership Team on developing a unified approach to achieving division goals.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Team leadership: Leading and motivating a team of welders, fabricators, operators in the stainless-steel production process by setting ambitious yet achievable performance targets and challenging teams to consistently meet or exceed these goals.
• Production scheduling: Managing top level production schedule by working with operations and production scheduler to create machine level schedules while ensuring timely delivery of stainless-steel products to meet customer demands.
• Material Planning: Partners with supply chain manager to ensure material needs align with production schedules.
• Process improvement: Identifying and implementing continuous improvement initiatives to streamline the stainless-steel production process.
• Quality control: Ensuring adherence to strict quality standards for stainless-steel products, including regular inspections and monitoring of critical quality parameters.
• Cost management: Monitoring and controlling costs associated with stainless steel production, including materials, labor, and overhead.
• Continuous Improvement: Identifying bottlenecks and areas for improvement within the stainless-steel value stream.

ATTRIBUTES

• Knowledge of stainless-steel manufacturing processes: Familiarity with different stainless steel fabrication techniques like cutting, welding, and finishing.
• Lean manufacturing expertise: Thorough understanding of Lean principles like value stream mapping, continuous flow, and waste reduction.
• Quality management skills: Deep understanding of quality standards, proven experience, quality control and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
• Leadership abilities: Effective communication, team building, and problem-solving skills to guide and motivate the team. Must be an excellent listener and be able to size up situations to resolve conflict and solve problems with both people and processes.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in operations, business management, or equivalent experience.
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with both labor-intensive and machine-driven operations.
• Experience working within a stainless-steel fabrication and machining environment is required.
• Proven experience in developing foundational processes and implementing accountability measures.
• Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing tools and quality improvement methodologies.
