Job Description:
- Responsible for routine laboratory work of moderate difficulty related to microbiological and molecular testing.
- Performs analytical methods of moderate to high complexity as outlined by the testing section.
- Prioritizes and organizes tasks to complete them within an assigned timeframe.
- Monitors test processes for adherence to quality control standards by comparing test results to known standards.
- Observes test equipment for proper functioning by monitoring temperature, detecting alarms, and recognizing sample processing issues.
- Prepares various types of specimens for examination using different diagnostic techniques.
- Prepares and checks specimens, solutions, reagents, and other materials necessary for conducting tests.
- Communicates the status of assigned tasks or other relevant information to supervisors or peers.
- Utilizes computers and laboratory information systems to process and handle information and data control.
- Documents, enters, transcribes, records, stores, and maintains information in written and electronic forms.
- Identifies and initiates troubleshooting for situations involving reagents and equipment.
- Reviews information from manuals, work instructions, and reference sources to accurately analyze and report test results.
- Uses guidelines to determine the acceptability of test results based on established laboratory policies and procedures.
- Monitors reagents and consumables to ensure adequate supply and rotates stock to minimize waste and expiration.
- Performs preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment in the assigned area as per standard procedures.
- Maintains situational awareness and proficiency with biological and chemical hazards, following standard operating procedures.
