Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Psychiatrist to join our multidisciplinary team, providing comprehensive mental health care for inpatient geriatric psych DPU and outpatient clinical settings. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, treating, and preventing mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders through individualized care plans.
Responsibilities:
Inpatient Settings:
- Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations and assessments.
- Develop and implement treatment plans, including medication management and psychotherapy.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including medical doctors, nurse practitioners, social workers, and nursing staff.
- Provide crisis intervention and stabilization for acute psychiatric cases.
- Participate in discharge planning to ensure continuity of care.
Outpatient Settings:
- Perform initial patient assessments and follow-up consultations.
- Prescribe and manage medications, monitoring for side effects and efficacy.
- Provide individual, group, and family therapy.
- Coordinate care with primary care physicians and other specialists.
- Educate patients and families about mental health conditions and treatment options.
Clinical Settings:
- Conduct clinical research and stay updated on the latest psychiatric treatments and practices.
- Supervise and train medical students, residents, and other healthcare professionals.
- Maintain accurate and timely medical records, adhering to privacy and confidentiality standards.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical audits.
- Engage in continuous professional development and education.
Qualifications:
- Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
- Board certification or eligibility in Psychiatry.
- Valid medical license to practice in Mississippi.
- Experience in inpatient, outpatient, and clinical settings preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
