Description:
The Director, Business Planning and Contracts Management provides strategic leadership across business planning and business decision support functions, including financial analysis, planning, and the full contracting lifecycle for Tulane Medicine. This role is responsible for ensuring the integrity and effectiveness of business decision support processes, analytics, and contract management, from initial request through execution and ongoing oversight.
The Director collaborates closely with the Dean, VP, TUMG CEO, the Finance Department of the SOM, and legal counsel to optimize business planning, financial modeling, and contracting strategy. They also work with School of Medicine department and section leadership to develop business cases and funding strategies for new initiatives requiring contractual funding support from affiliated hospitals or community partners. Additionally, the Director fosters strong relationships with affiliated hospitals and external partners to support business concept development and alignment, contract negotiations, and strategic decision-making.
This role requires significant business development experience, strong interpersonal and leadership skills, and expertise in financial modeling, business intelligence reporting, and contract analytics. The Director must be highly proficient in Excel and business intelligence tools and be comfortable presenting complex financial and strategic insights to stakeholders at all levels.
Ability to develop, read, analyze and interpret business legal documents AND financial reports
Proficiency with healthcare accounting concepts
Experience with creating and managing budgets
Health care/patient care business environment experience
High proficiency with excel and business intelligence software
Demonstrated excellent analytical skills
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
Ability to multi-task, and prioritize work assignments without direct supervision
Ability to maintain confidentiality in all work performed
Bachelor's Degree in business or related field
Five plus (5+) years' experience in the areas of clinical/business administration, business analytics, and/or clinical contract management.
Master's level education or higher with Finance or Healthcare Background
At least three years' experience with healthcare contract negotiation
Experience in the patient care and or physician practice/hospital environment
Experience in academic medicine settings
