JOB DESCRIPTION - Director, Client Relations

Manulife's Retirement Savings Products and Services team has a position to fill. The Director, Client Relations performs important relationship management functions that support the overall client experience and retention of our institutional clients, right from their desks. The incumbent of this position supports the sales team by participating in formal and informal presentations that promote our capabilities and services to existing and new customers. Although the Director, Customer Relations must support the sales team, this is not a sales position.

The Director, Client Relations works with plan sponsors and plan consultants and advisors to explain our products, tools and services. He is also responsible for plan changes working with other teams to facilitate modifications, fund changes, rate negotiations and training needs to proactively manage an existing block of business by providing after-sales service and plan sponsor training which will achieve high client retention.

Retirement Savings Products and Services Canada is a leading provider of group retirement savings plans for businesses in Canada. Our plans include Registered Retirement Savings Plans, Defined Contribution Pension Plans, Registered Pension Plans, Deferred Profit Sharing Plans and Employee Stock Ownership Plans, among others.
This position is based in Quebec and the incumbent must be able to travel occasionally.

Responsibilities
Understand the business needs of customers and build strong relationships with them by providing effective and proactive service coupled with efficient reactive claims handling, executed with accuracy in mind.
Support the process prior to the sale of retirement products and services.
Participate in the set-up process by working closely with plan sponsors, advisors and the head office set-up team.
Take part in projects, as required.
Provide training for plan administrators.
Provide services based on the service model of Retirement Savings Products and Services, Canada.
Continually provide recommendations for service improvement.
Support plan sponsors to adhere to governance guidelines.
Participate in meetings of the pension committee and review of investment options.
Seek and work to grow assets and carefully nurture client relationships proactively.
Provide assistance and information to the Financial Education team and the National Training Advisor team for continuing education needs.

SKILLS
Bilingual (French and English)
Experience in the Canadian pension industry
Undergraduate degree (in administration, economics or finance, an asset)
Knowledge of non-registered group retirement and savings plans
Understanding of laws and regulations governing pension plans and investments
Good math skills preferred
A CEBS or RPA title, an asset
