Reports to: Superintendent
Supervises: All personnel serving at Algonquin Road School
Job Goal: To create an environment within the school that guides and supports learning in a productive and nurturing manner
Term of Employment: 220 Days
Performance Responsibilities:

1. Directs and supervises the activities of certified and non-certified staff members in the performance of their duties.

2. Reports to the Superintendent regarding the needs of the school with respect to personnel, equipment, supplies, and curriculum.

3. Implements and observes Board policies and administrative rules and regulations relative to the operation of the school.

4. Plans, organizes, and directs the implementation of all school programs. This includes the development and ongoing success of the School Improvement Plan.

5. Establishes and maintains favorable relationships with local community groups and individuals to foster understanding and solicit support for overall school objectives and programs, to implement Board policies and administrative directives, and to discuss and resolve individual student problems.

6. Orients newly assigned staff members and assists in their development, as appropriate.

7. Evaluates and counsels all staff members regarding their individual and group performance.

8. Assists the Superintendent in supervising support services personnel within the building, such as secretarial, maintenance, custodial, technology, and food service employees.

9. Approves any building use forms from community organizations and forwards them to the Superintendent for final approval.

10. Participates in administrative meetings and such other meetings as are required or appropriate.

11. Meets weekly, or as often as possible, with each grade level team to work collaboratively on curriculum and various student-related issues.

12. Assists the Superintendent in the preparation of the school's budgetary requests, and monitors the expenditure of funds at Algonquin Road School.

13. Attends certain special events held to recognize student achievements and attends certain school-sponsored activities and functions.

14. Attends school board meetings and delivers a monthly building report.

15. Attends Parent Teacher Organization meetings and delivers a report.

16. Works with the administrative team to problem-solve district issues, such as transportation, special services, maintenance, and the like.

17. Conducts building meetings to keep staff members informed of policy changes, new programs, and the like.

18. Keeps the Superintendent informed of the school's activities and problems.

19. Works with the administrative team and the inservice committee to convey district and building instructional objectives and schedule professional development activities that pertain to these objectives.

20. Keeps abreast of changes and developments in the profession by attending professional meetings, reading professional journals and other publications, and discussing problems of mutual interest with others in the field.

21. Provides leadership in the development, revision, and evaluation of the curriculum.

22. Provides leadership in the recruiting, screening, hiring, training, assigning, and evaluating of the school's professional staff.

23. Creates the specials schedule for the building as well as other school related activity and duty schedules.

24. Assumes responsibility for recommending needed changes for the safety and administration of the school plant.

25. Plans and supervises fire drills and maintains an emergency preparedness program.

26. Maintains high standards of student conduct and enforces discipline as necessary, according to the due process to the rights of students.

27. Participates in the district's joint advisory committee.

28. Assumes responsibility for overseeing the attendance, conduct, and health of students.

29. Recommends to the Superintendent the removal of any teacher whose work is unsatisfactory, according to established procedures.

30. Performs such other tasks as may from time to time be assigned by the Superintendent.
