We are looking for a Director, Debt Investments to join the team at Crestpoint Real Estate Investments Ltd. ("Crestpoint").
The Director, Debt Investments will be primarily responsible for supporting the EVP, Head of Debt Investments in all areas of the debt business including but not limited to 1) Credit, Underwriting and Due Diligence, 2) Business Development, 3) Portfolio Construction and Operations, and 4) Capital Raising and Client Service. The ideal candidate will be an expert in at least one of these areas with general familiarity in the others and a willingness to learn and develop their skills.

The successful candidate will have a strong focus on risk mitigation, project management, process management, business strategy and high attention to detail. This role requires excellent organizational skills, a fundamental understanding of the real estate debt industry, an appreciation of the underlying investment performance fundamentals, and advanced communication skills. Most importantly the successful candidate will have a client-first mentality and a performance driven mindset.

Director, Debt Investments

We are looking for a Director, Debt Investments to join the team at Crestpoint Real Estate Investments Ltd. ("Crestpoint").

What You Will Be Doing
- Managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment, without sacrificing high attention to detail
- Driving investment performance by making sound credit and pricing recommendations under the supervision of the EVP
- Managing the credit/underwriting process, summarizing findings in an internal credit memo
- Supporting the EVP in establishing Crestpoint's mortgage brokerage, building and maintaining direct and indirect origination, brokerage, and borrower relationships
- Maintaining portfolio construction and cash forecasting tools
- Presenting portfolio positions, servicing updates and pipeline pro formas to the Portfolio Governance Committee on a bi-weekly basis
- Liaising with third-party funding departments, third-party servicers, third party valuator, internal operations department, and banking relationships
- Preparing client presentation materials and drafting quarterly reporting materials
- In-person and virtual presentations to investors
- Ensuring our clients have a market leading experience by maintaining highest standards of timeliness and accuracy in all dealings
- Hiring, managing and developing a team of debt analysts as the business grows
About You
- Required:
- 7-10 years in commercial mortgage (or real estate equity) underwriting, transactions, and/or capital raising
- Strong project management skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and project management tools
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Self-starter with a performance driven mindset
- Positive, team first, attitude
- Deep understanding of identifying and negotiating strong risk adjusted returns
- Ideal candidate should also have some of the following, but not expected to have all:
- Proficient in database management tools
- Proficient in French (verbal and written)
- Mortgage Broker Registration or Agent Level 2
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accountant, Management, or Economics
- Postgraduate accreditations (CPA, CFA, CIM, AACI)
