Job Description
Job Title: Nuclear Medicine Technologist

Job Specialty: PET/NM Registered Tech

Job Duration: 13 Weeks

Shift: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM

Guaranteed Hours: 40 Hours per Week

Experience: Recent PET Experience on the GE Discovery MI Scanner

License: South Carolina Radiation Quality Standard Association (SCRQSA) Radiographer Certification

Certifications: Nuclear Medicine Certification from ARRT or NMTCB, BLS through the American Heart Association

Must-Have: SCRQSA Certification in Hand Prior to Starting

Job Description:

- Perform procedures for direct interpretation under medical supervision, following established protocols.
- Assist radiologists as needed and supervise student radiologic technologists.
- Encourage and maintain good customer relations, ensuring care and safety during imaging procedures.
- Efficiently utilize imaging equipment and minimize repeat examinations while focusing on cost containment.
- Instruct and prepare patients regarding imaging procedures and assist in obtaining informed consent.
- Ensure patient understanding of procedures and communicate effectively with family regarding discharge instructions.
- Enter correct orders, diagnosis, and clinical history into computer systems and communicate with radiologists effectively.
- Adhere to hospital, departmental, and safety policies and practices good radiation protection under ALARA principles.
- Assist in clinical education of student technologists and consistently promote mission and values.
- Support department efforts and practice strict confidentiality of work-related information.
- Collaborate with other imaging team members and staff, demonstrating flexibility and accountability.
- Take initiative in improving departmental operations and complete other job duties and responsibilities as required.

Knowledge/Skills:

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to perform and teach nuclear medicine exams to produce satisfactory diagnostic images.
- Familiarity with OSHA, FDA, and other relevant standards and regulations.
- Responsible for the safe operation of nuclear medicine and post-processing equipment.
