Job Title: Registered Nurse - CVOR

License: Registered Nurse (RN) - South Dakota Board of Nursing
Certifications: BLS, ACLS
Must-Have: Strong CVOR background across all specialties with the ability to work independently
Description:
The position is for a Level II Trauma Center with additional facilities including a Level III NICU and Level II Pediatric Trauma.
This center is on the journey to Magnet Status Designation and is a Primary Stroke and Chest Pain Center.
As a teaching hospital with 417 beds, it provides an enriching environment for professional growth.
The unit comprises 2 ORs, 20 Pre-Op bays, and 14 PACU bays.
Required experience includes 2 years of CVOR experience in Level 1 or 2 trauma centers.
First-time travelers are welcome.
Travelers must live more than 100 miles away from the facility.
Permanent staff must wait one full year to return as a traveler.
Patient types include cardio and thoracic surgeries, CABG, TAVR, valve replacements, thoracic cases, generator exchanges, lead extractions, fem-pop bypass, open vascular cases, AAA, and carotids conversions.
The position may require floating to the Main OR.
Patient ratios in the OR are 1:1.
Required certifications for RNs include BLS and ACLS.
The required education includes completion of a board-approved nursing program.
Skills required for RNs include a strong CVOR background and the ability to work independently with minimal guidance in specific cases.
Support on the unit includes personnel such as Surgery RNs, First Assist, Surg Tech, and others.
The charting system used is EPIC, along with Omnicell and Alaris equipment.
The position may involve floating to Main OR and Central Sterile Processing.
Orientation includes five 8-hour days for both RN and CST roles.
Scheduling involves 8 or 10-hour shifts determined during the interview process.
There is a weekend rotation which is on-call only.
On-call requirements include one overnight per week and every third weekend with shifts from Friday evening to Monday morning.
Sleep rooms will be available.
There is a potential to work on every holiday.
Time-off approval requires direct communication with the manager.
Scrub color will be provided.
