RESPOND, Inc. is seeking an experienced Director of Finance to lead and manage all financial operations of the organization. This position will ensure fiscal sustainability, compliance, and strategic financial planning while overseeing all accounting functions, audits, payroll, and financial reporting. The Director of Finance must have expertise in nonprofit accounting, fiscal management, and program budgeting and will provide oversight of financial operations, including funding from the Camden Board of Education and Early Head Start. The Director of Finance will present financial reports and strategic recommendations to the Board of Directors, requiring strong communication and presentation skills.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervisory Responsibilities

Financial Leadership & Strategy
- Studies long-range economic trends and projects their impact on future organizational growth
- Identifies opportunities for expansion into new areas
- Oversees investment of funds and grants; works with investment bankers to raise additional capital required for expansion
- Hires, trains, supervises, motivates, and develops fiscal/accounting employees
- Provides day-to-day guidance and oversight of subordinates; actively works to promote and recognize performance
- Provide strategic financial leadership to ensure the long-term financial health of Respond, Inc.
- Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and internal controls in compliance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards
- Advise the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and leadership team on financial matters, risks, and opportunities
- Oversee and manage the organization's financial strategy, forecasting, and cash flow planning
Budgeting & Program Financial Oversight
- Manage and oversee fiscal and program budgets, including funding from Camden Board of Education and Early Head Start
- Work closely with department heads to develop, monitor, and report on program budgets
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local funding requirements, including grant and contract reporting
Audit & Compliance
- Lead and oversee all financial audits, including annual external audits, grant audits, and compliance reviews
- Work with auditors to ensure the completion of accurate and timely audit reports
- Implement audit recommendations and ensure compliance with funding regulations and nonprofit reporting standards
- Maintain financial records and documentation to support audit readiness
Payroll & Financial Operations
- Oversee payroll processing through ADP, ensuring accuracy and compliance with labor laws
- Direct all accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities
- Supervise the Senior Accountant, Staff Accountant, and Controller, ensuring effective financial operations
- Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Monitor cash flow, financial performance, and funding allocations to ensure fiscal stability
- Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting regulations, IRS requirements, and grant reporting guidelines
Board & Stakeholder Engagement
- Prepare and present financial reports, analyses, and insights to the Board of Directors
- Effectively communicate financial risks, performance, and recommendations to leadership and stakeholders
- Provide financial training and guidance to Board members and senior leadership as needed
Technology & Financial Systems
- Maintain proficiency in Fund EZ, QuickBooks, ADP, and other financial software used for budgeting, reporting, and payroll management
- Optimize financial technology systems to improve efficiency and reporting accuracy
- Ensure proper implementation and integration of accounting software with organizational operations
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy, compliance, and risk management
- Ability to multitask and manage priorities in a fast-paced nonprofit environment
- Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills across departments.
- Expertise in nonprofit accounting, fiscal management, and program budgeting
- Strong audit oversight, knowledge of financial software packages such as Fund EZ, QuickBooks, and ADP for payroll management
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master's degree or CPA preferred)
- 7-10 years of nonprofit fiscal management experience, including knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards
- Expertise in audit oversight, financial compliance, and grant management
- Strong knowledge of Fund EZ, QuickBooks, ADP (for payroll processing), and other financial management software
- Experience managing program budgets, particularly with Camden Board of Education and Early Head Start funding
- Leadership experience overseeing finance teams and accounting operations
- Strong presentation skills and ability to communicate financial data to non-financial stakeholders
- Proficiency in financial reporting, forecasting, and cash flow management
COMPENSATION:
- $90,000 to $110,000 commensurate with experience
