Job Summary:
The Collins Rockford Advanced Manufacturing Engineering & Projects team is seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated team member to take on the role of Factory Automation engineer focusing Industry 4.0 initiatives for manufacturing. This role will be responsible for interfacing and coordinating activities between internal departments and appropriate vendors to study, select, implement, and sustain various automation solutions.
Job Duties
* Heavy interaction with internal IT departments to coordinate and push initiatives
* Ability to design, develop, and maintain automated control systems for factory operations.
* Develop and maintain digital dashboards and reporting tools for real-time monitoring and decision making
* Create detailed control system designs, including electrical schematics, control diagrams, and software.
* Integrate PLCs, HMIs, sensors, and other automation components into the manufacturing process.
* Compilation of standard work and execution documentation for various tools and processes
* Program PLCs and other industrial control systems (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Rockwell, etc.).
* Troubleshoot and resolve automation and controls issues in the production environment.
* Ensure the reliability and performance of control systems.
* Conduct system tests and ensure all components meet operational requirements.
Required Qualifications
* Strong knowledge of control systems, electrical circuits, and industrial automation.
* Proficiency in programming languages such as Ladder Logic, Structured Text, and Function Block Diagram.
* Understanding of industrial communication protocols (Modbus, Ethernet/IP, Profibus, etc.).
* Familiarity with CAD software for creating control diagrams (e.g., AutoCAD, EPLAN).
* Experience with Ignition, Databricks, PowerBI, Tableau, SQL, Python, APIs, Microsoft Office Products - especially Excel and SharePoint are a plus
* Due to the nature of the work US Citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
* Familiarity with robotics, motion control, and manufacturing process automation is a plus.
