The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the design and development of passive RF antenna components. This role collaborates with RF Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and Production to design innovative, manufacturable solutions for our world-class customers.
This role will serve as Responsible Engineer for our projects - which are designed, manufactured, assembled, and tested all in our 54,000 sq. ft. facility located in Longmont, Colorado.

The manufacturing facility is more than 56,000 square feet. Workers may be exposed to loud noises,chemicals, and other occupational hazards; personal protective equipment may be provided by The Company and at request.
Job Information:
This is a full-time, permanent position. This position is eligible for the employer-sponsored benefits listed under "CMi is Proud to Offer." This position is considered exempt (paid on a salaried basis).
Pay range: $82,000-$105,000 based on qualifications and experience.

What You'll Do (Essential Job Functions):
- Create and maintain proper documentation associated with the design and analysis of the hardware
- Design hardware based on customer specifications using SolidWorks
- Perform static and dynamic analyses (modal, static, random vibration, and thermoelastic) on designed hardware based on customer specifications using NEi/NX Nastran and Femap
- Support production and test of the hardware
- Troubleshoot hardware as needed
- Support R&D test and design activities
- Closely collaborate with RF, Manufacturing, and Production to ensure design for manufacturability.
- Communicate technical information internally and with customers and vendors
- Work with QA to resolve non-conformances as they apply to design
- Review and approve drawings using GD&T, including tolerance stack-up analysis where required
- Adhere to government regulations, industry standards and internal guidelines to produce quality hardware in a quality setting
- Participate in continuous improvement activities
- Other duties as assigned.
What You Bring (Desired Experience and Skills):
- SolidWorks or similar CAD software experience
- NEi/NX Nastran, Femap, or similar analysis software experience
- Experience with Creo
- Familiarity with composite structural design
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes, including CNC machining and 3D Printing
- Experience assembling and delivering technical presentation to internal and external stakeholders.
- Design management skills, particularly with respect to delivering engineering content necessary to support the production process.
Your Experience (Minimum Qualifications):
- At least 4 years of related design experience within the aerospace industry required.
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related Engineering
- Demonstrated proficiency in SolidWorks or similar software
- Working knowledge of analysis software
- Demonstrated experience with compliance to aerospace requirements, such as vibe, thermal, and mass.
- Must provide proof of US Citizenship or Permanent Residency to comply with ITAR regulations.
- Must complete a pre-employment background and drug screen

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to sit in a stationary position for more than 50% of day.
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery; repetitive motions include, but are not limited to, keyboarding and data entry operations.
- Must be able to intermittently stand and walk for longer than 30 minutes throughout the work shift.
- May require occasional utilization of stairs and/or ladder.
- May require occasional bending, squatting, kneeling, and crouching to access work supplies.
- This position involves extensive internal and external communication; ability to utilize a phone and convey accurate information in person, over the phone, and through email.
- Must be able to see in artificial/fluorescent lighting.
- May require occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
