Description
The County of Yolo is recruiting to fill one (1) regular, full-time position in the class of Associate Planner or Senior Planner at the Department of Community Services. The level at which the position will be offered will be based on the candidate's background and experience, and at the discretion of the appointing authority.
Associate Planner: $86,923.20 - $105,643.20
Senior Planner - $101,046.40 - $122,824.00
The Position
This position requires a Monday through Friday work schedule and an eight (8) hour work day. On occasion. This position will require irregular work hours when a public service need occurs outside of normal business hours, such as attending community meetings. Determinations regarding remote work options are at the discretion of management.
Associate Planner:
Under general supervision performs professional planning duties; researches and prepares planning studies; explains and interprets planning ordinances and policies to the public; and conducts related work as required.
This class is located in the Community Development Department. It differs from the Assistant Planner by the complexity of assignments and independence by which the incumbent is expected to perform.
Senior Planner:
Under general supervision performs professional planning duties; researches and prepares planning studies; explains and interprets planning ordinances and policies to the public; coordinates and oversees work of other professional planning staff; performs a variety of duties required of special projects; and other related duties as assigned.
This class is located at the Department of Community Services. It is the specialist/lead level in the Planner series. It differs from the Associate Planner in that it has lead responsibilities for one or more special project assignments; direct administration, coordination and monitoring responsibilities of a major planning function: Land Use; Housing and Economic Opportunities; Resources and Environmental Management; and other project related duties are required.

Associate Planner:
Education: Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in planning, engineering, architecture, resource and environmental management, or related field.
Experience: Three years of professional planning experience.
License

Senior Planner:

Experience: Five (5) years of increasingly responsible planning experience with a specialization in one of the following areas; land use, housing, economic development, housing rehabilitation, redevelopment, public facilities, infrastructure needs and financing, or resource and environmental management.
License
