Qualifications:
- Virginia postgraduate professional teaching license with an endorsement in Special Education and Administration and Supervision
- Master's degree in Special Education or a related field
- A minimum of three years of successful experience as a special education teacher
- Supervisory experience preferred

- Thorough knowledge of methods, materials, practices, procedures, programs, regulations and policies of special education
- Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships within the school and community
- Ability to communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and representatives of other agencies
Essential Duties

- Policy Implementation: Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to special education programs.
- Collaboration & Relationship Building: Establish and maintain strong relationships with state, regional, and district-level special education leaders; Partner with Principals to ensure consistency between general education and special education programs.
- Compliance Monitoring & Coordination: Coordinate and monitor related service programs, ensuring timely implementation of services; Conduct regular audits of IEPs to ensure they comply with federal, state, and district special education laws and procedures; Review IEPs and other special education documents for quality and compliance, providing timely feedback and coaching to Special Education leads; Ensure timely requests and review of special education records from students' resident school districts to confirm compliance.
- Reporting & Documentation: Assist with the preparation and submission of reports to local, state, and federal agencies as required; Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of special education services, IEPs, evaluations, and compliance documentation; Collaborate with the Operations Manager and State Reporting Specialist to gather and input required data into various school, state, and federal systems.
- Training & Professional Development: Stay informed of federal, state, and local regulations regarding special education; Attend and participate in relevant training offered by the Department of Education and other county agencies to stay current on best practices and compliance issues; Develop and lead professional development programs for staff on special education compliance and best practices.
- Support & Assistance: Work closely with the Special Instructional Services Director and Assistant Director on all compliance-related matters; Provide support to Special Education leadership teams regarding compliance-related communications; Assist in identifying and addressing compliance concerns, including providing information on compliance dates for IEPs and other required documents.
- Process Coordination: Oversee eligibility processes and triennial reviews; Collaborate with the State Testing Coordinator and Operations Team to ensure appropriate testing for both in-district and out-of-district students; Monitor school compliance timelines and use data to inform decision-making to improve services for students with disabilities.
- Policy Contribution: Contribute to the development and refinement of district policies and procedures to improve compliance and service delivery.
- Provide supervision and leadership to the specialized programs coordinator.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned through the immediate supervisor
