Description:
The Psychiatrist provides direct professional services in the evaluation and treatment of clients in order to evaluate, diagnose and treat the entire range of psychiatric disorders. You will provide continuing medication management for assigned clients as well as functioning as the medical team representative on a multidisciplinary treatment team designed to offer comprehensive behavioral health services. You will work in a collaborative manner with Advanced Practice Nurses and other members of the care team.

What You'll Do:
Evaluate patients for mental, emotional or behavioral disorders. Diagnose disorders, including nature and extent, and determines the appropriate course of treatment for the patient. Prescribes medication when necessary.
Maintain documentation consistent with SummitStone quality assurance procedures and clinical performance standards.
Maintain up-to-date and accurate records according to agency standards.
Achieve SummitStone standards for the provision of direct/billable client services.
Monitor and evaluate the quality of medical and therapeutic services provided.
Provide direct psychiatric treatment for clients.
Attend committee meetings, staff meetings and inter-agency meetings as required.
Comply with County, State and federal laws, rules and regulations pertaining to mental health care.
Maintain medical staff privileges at designated hospital as required.
Participate in on-call coverage schedule on rotating basis.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited university with additional post-graduate training in psychiatry.
- More than four years of related experience
- More than two years of experience in treating and servicing persons with substance use and mental health needs preferred
- Understanding and commitment to Medication Assisted Treatment and harm reduction principles required
- Strong understanding of substance use treatment and knowledge of withdrawal management processes preferred
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be evaluated and considered
Licenses and Certifications:
- DEA Certification and waiver to prescribe buprenorphine (or willingness to obtain waiver within 30 days of hire) required.
- License to psychiatry in the state of Colorado required.
- Valid Colorado driver's license or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire and a clean driving record
- Board certified or eligible with plans for certification
