ABOUT THIS POSITION
The Process Control Technology Services (PCTS) division provides 24/7 support for the Water Services Department's (WSD) industrial control systems, implemented at four water treatment plants, two wastewater treatment plants, one water reclamation plant, and over 200 remote sites throughout the city. These advanced and highly automated systems enable the WSD to meet stringent regulatory performance requirements, comply with federal, state, and county regulations and reporting mandates, and produce high-quality water and effluent. The Operational Technology section of PCTS delivers comprehensive technical hardware and software support for the installation and maintenance of Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems in water and wastewater treatment, distribution, and collection processes.
The Water Services Department is seeking a Water Systems Technology Specialist (User Technology Specialist*U2). The Water Systems Technology Specialist is a critical role within the WSD, responsible for the technical support and maintenance of the DCS and SCADA systems.

The Water Services Department is seeking a Water Systems Technology Specialist (User Technology Specialist*U2). The Water Systems Technology Specialist is a critical role within the WSD, responsible for the technical support and maintenance of the DCS and SCADA systems.
Position responsibilities to include:
- Ensures the efficient and reliable operation of water and wastewater treatment, distribution, and collection processes.
- Leverages their expertise in industrial control systems to evaluate, select, acquire, and install advanced hardware and software solutions, diagnose, and resolve technical issues, and uphold high standards of cybersecurity.
- Manages technology assets in compliance with city polices and provide technical leadership and training to staff and contractors.
- Integrates new technologies, maintains system integrity, and enhances the overall productivity of the water services infrastructure.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
- Highly skilled with a robust background in industrial control systems, particularly within the context of water processes.
- Possess experience with Distributed Control Systems and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition systems,
- Deep understanding of Programmable Logic Controllers, networking equipment, and cybersecurity practices.
SALARY
Pay Range: $31.06 - $48.19 per hour
Hiring Range: $31.06 - $43.71 per hour.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- One year of experience in systems applications analysis, programming or telecommunications functions utilizing a variety of hardware and software;
- OR one year of experience in telephone station equipment and related telecommunications distribution systems;
- And course work including training or experience with one or more work station computers and one or more programming languages and one or more operating systems.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:
- Degree in computer science, IT, engineering, or related field.
- Hands-on experience in water/wastewater treatment control systems, including DCS and SCADA.
- Certifications in control systems, cybersecurity, water and wastewater treatment, CAP, CCST, and CompTIA A+.
