Job Description
The purpose of this procurement leadership role is to manage professional-level employees (Strategic Relationship Managers (SRM) and Buyer roles) supporting the Church's Welfare Department. This role is to be a first line, working manager having individual contributor responsibilities, and therefore, an expert-level professional that optimizes the value of and manages the relationships between Church organizations and their critical and strategic implementing organizations, suppliers, and vendors. This role helps ensure that critical supplies, commodities, and third-party services are delivered to the Church as needed and within budgetary constraints.
Responsibilities
This person manages a group of professional employees and ensures that team goals/milestones are met, and approved budgets contained. Partners closely with assigned department leaders to understand, develop, and exhibit advanced knowledge in all assigned industries; interact with vendors, consultants, and professional groups.
Will manage key supply chain relationships between providers, whose services, commodities, or products are critical to allowing a major Church function to continue its operations. Examples of such vendors supplying critical products or services are the following: UN agencies, multinational, national, and local humanitarian organizations, consultants, and other domestic and international suppliers providing key commodities that allow Church entities to provide or produce their end products.
Will help departments and suppliers comply with complicated import and export regulations to minimize risk and exposure to the Church.
Will manage provider relationships for both US domestic and global programs.
Will work closely with assigned department leaders to develop and improve processes and tools and find solutions to supply chain needs.
Will work closely with legal counsel to develop and execute contractual agreements.

Specific Duties include the following:
- Manage supplier relationships: Becomes the subject-matter expert regarding a supply-chain group providing strategically crucial and enterprise-wide solutions to employer for goods and services.
- Leverage the global Church enterprise expenditures to qualify, select and establish legal contracts with the best possible providers of products and services at the best value for the Church.
- Ensure supplier performance of contracted terms and conditions.
- Become aware of possible future trends that may affect the supply chain.
- Understand and articulate customer and internal partner needs: Document and design solutions for, and ensure that both product and service needs of sponsoring organizations (i.e., Church Departments) are satisfied at the best possible value; interact with vendors, consultants and professional groups; anticipate possible trends in industry that may impact employer in the future.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- BA and at least 10 years related experience required.
- At least 2 year's experience leading and/or managing other employees
- Proven track record of successful supplier relationship management, strategic sourcing, outsourcing or procurement operations management.
- Advanced interpersonal skills and ability to negotiate with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Advance leadership skills. Up to 25% domestic and international travel.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters of Business Administration, Juris Doctorate, or other advanced degree; CPM, CPSM certification.
