Summary/Objective: The Accounting Manager - Operations will oversee the accounting operations of our multi-disciplinary general contracting company, which conducts business across multiple states in the southeast US. This pivotal role requires a dynamic, strategic leader who will be responsible for managing the full transaction flow of the organization and helping to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance.

Essential Functions:
  • Accounting Operations: Supervise the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management and interfaces with operations systems.
  • Financial Reporting: Involvement in timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
  • Internal Controls: Monitor and improve internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate transaction flow and financial data.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including tax filings and audits.
  • Strategic Planning: Partner with executive leadership to develop financial strategies that support the company's growth objectives.
  • Financial Analysis: Provide detailed financial analysis and insights to support business decisions and improve financial performance.
  • Team Leadership: Mentor and develop the accounting team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
  • Systems: Lead continual advancement in use of technology to streamline processes and enhance the organization's competitiveness.


Competencies:
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills; strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance; experience with construction accounting software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present financial information to executive leadership and board members.


Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with at least 2 years in a supervising role. Construction/contracting industry preferred.
  • Proficiency in financial management software and Microsoft Office Suite; experience with ERP systems is a plus.
  • Certifications: CPA, CMA, CCIFP designation preferred.


Work Environment/Physical Demands:

The Accounting Manager will primarily work in an office environment. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work. There may be prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working at a computer. There may be some walking, standing, bending, and carrying of light items such as papers, books, small parts, driving an automobile, etc.
