Transportation Survey Director - East Region

Celebrating over 35 years of success and continual growth, ESP Associates is currently seeking a strategic, growth-oriented Transportation survey professional to join our leadership team.

As the Transportation Survey Director - East Region, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing transportation Survey and Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) projects. Reporting to the Transportation Business Unit Executive, the Director will initially focus on expanding ESP's transportation Survey and SUE services in the Carolinas with the opportunity to continue growth initiatives in the Southeast.

As a leader, you will set the pace for ESP's growth in the Southeast Transportation Survey/SUE market and beyond! You will lead decisions regarding strategy, market penetration, team growth/development, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:

• The Director will be responsible for all aspects of Survey and SUE groups (field and office) by providing training, mentoring, technical and administrative guidance and oversight.
• Oversee all aspects of survey and SUE projects and operations, ensuring adherence to project specifications set by DOT, safety standards, and quality control measures.
• Leadership and Vision/Strategic Planning for Growth:
• Develops and maintains relationships with state DOT decision makers, as well as local municipalities, to increase Company exposure and position the Company for survey and SUE contracts.
• Develops strategic network/teaming for internal and external teaming strategies.
• Lead and/or assist in preparing and approving proposals and qualifications statements and may assist with the management of plan production on roadway, streets, highways, and other transportation-related systems and multi-modal projects.
• Assist Managers with workforce planning, monthly billing, and final review of completed reports and maps.
• Manage the Transportation Survey - East Region to achieve expected profitability and growth.

Qualifications:

• Licensed Professional Surveyor (PLS) in North and South Carolina.
• Successful record performing business development and maintaining relationships with SCDOT, NCDOT, and local municipality decision makers.
• Strong leadership, project management, and business development skills.
• Extensive knowledge of survey and mapping principles, practice standards, procedures and project management.
• Extensive knowledge of SUE methodologies and equipment including GPR, and vacuum excavation equipment.
• Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills to effectively and professionally interact with team members, clients, governmental review authorities, government officials, and the public.
• Demonstrated expertise adjusting to priorities and demands from multiple clients and projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, multi-disciplinary environment.
• Firm understanding of risk management and loss prevention.
• Strong self-motivational and organizational skills with the ability to lead, motivate and direct a team of office and field personnel.
• Experience with survey computations and platting using Trimble Business Center, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and ArcGIS, as well as field experience with Trimble Survey field equipment.
• Intermediate to advanced computer skills (MS Office, Teams, SharePoint, and relevant technical software) required.
• Candidate must be able to pass a drug screen, background check, and have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the company's driving (MVR) policy.
