Job Description
Under the direction of EITS leadership, the Sr. Cerner LIS Analyst - Anatomic Pathology is responsible for the ongoing assessment, design, development, and implementation of laboratory information systems (LIS) within NYC Health + Hospitals Corporation. Specifically, the analyst will provide guidance and direction to LIS Analysts and the operations of the LIS department. The Sr. Cerner LIS Analyst will plan, conduct, and coordinate programming application activities, develop system requirements, troubleshoot issues, and create user and operational documentation. The role involves collaboration with system users to define business and functional requirements and recommend technical and operational solutions. Sr. Management Consultants are responsible for training and mentoring lower level analysts, and taking on more complex issues, optimizations, and tickets. Sr. Management Consultants will lead and coordinate meetings and projects, and will act as a back up to the Director as needed.
Duties & Responsibilities
Special Projects & Flexibility:
This role is approximately 80% remote and up to 20% onsite. The selected candidate must be able to come into the office to perform required work within 48 hours. This may be subject to change.
Minimum Qualifications
1. A Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, applied Mathematics, Business Administration, Economics/Statistics, Telecommunications, Data Communications, or a related field of study; and
2. Five (5) years of progressive, responsible experience in the field of data processing, computer systems and applications.
Operations Specialty requires supervisory experience (5 years).
Network Services requires a telecommunications background and experience.
3. Broad knowledge and expertise in the characteristics of computers, peripheral devices, communications systems and hardware capabilities, programming languages, E.D.P. applications, systems analysis methodology, data management and retrieval techniques; or
4. A satisfactory equivalent combination of training, education and experience.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Business Analysis & Documentation:
- Analyze and document business requirements and processes.
- Communicate these requirements to technical personnel via models, flowcharts, and technical specifications.
- Leadership & Guidance:
- Provide guidance to LIS Analysts.
- Oversee the LIS department's operations and lead in interpreting clinical workflows to define requirements.
- System Investigation & Design:
- Document existing system procedures and propose solutions for complex systems.
- Develop functional and technical specifications, addressing inputs, outputs, system functions, and performance.
- System Development & Maintenance:
- Code, test, document, and implement applications in the LIS environment.
- Address new system functions and specify data conversions, installation strategies, and customer acceptance criteria.
- Support & Troubleshooting:
- Monitor daily system performance and resolve issues via ServiceNow.
- Provide end-user support, addressing operational issues and system defects.
- Training & Communication:
- Prepare user manuals, training materials, and deliver user training.
- Conduct system demonstrations and presentations.
- Develop and submit status reports to leadership.
Special Projects & Flexibility:
- Participate in special projects as required.
- Adapt to irregular work hours when needed, balancing remote and onsite work (up to 20% onsite).

- At least 2 full software development life cycle implementations, or major system upgrades of clinical applications preferred.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience with Cerner Millennium (PathNet) required.
- At least 5 years of progressive experience in systems analysis and/or programming required.
- Proven ability to translate high-level specifications for software components into detailed designs and implementations.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Must be able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a fast-paced team environment.
