Job Description:
- Lead the Hospice & Palliative Care program, focusing on operations, strategic planning, fiscal management, employee and patient safety, quality of care, service delivery, business development, and community relations.
- Oversee the development and operations for a full range of services under the Hospice and Palliative business lines.
- Supervise the care provided by nurse practitioners, nurses, social workers, and office staff.
- Ensure availability during operating hours or appoint a similarly qualified alternate for program oversight.
- Report directly to the CEO.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Financial Management: Responsible for quality and financial performance outcomes. Develop and oversee budgets for all Hospice and Palliative clinical operations and aligned programs.
- Compliance: Coordinate with the Director of Quality and Compliance to adhere to laws, regulations, and accreditation standards. Develop and maintain policies to ensure adherence to best practices in professional and legal standards, quality of service, fiscal control, and customer relations. Maintain knowledge of CMS regulations and Conditions of Participation for Hospice and Palliative programs. Ensure continual survey readiness and use industry resources to maintain up-to-date clinical, regulatory, industry, and information system knowledge.
- Program Development: Develop and monitor departmental KPIs, establish patient care standards, refine efficient processes for timely service delivery, and balance effective patient care with efficiency goals. Responsible for new program initiatives, including policies, procedures, business plans, and operations budgets. Collaborate with internal teams and community organizations to establish successful programs.
- Talent Management: Evaluate resources and staffing to meet clinical needs and objectives. Establish performance standards and guide staff to meet them. Identify success pathways and develop an environment supporting excellence. Lead positive change through process improvement focusing on team engagement and morale. Establish safe work practices and work environments.
- Leadership: Develop and maintain clear communication across programs. Partner with internal teams to develop strategies for program growth and improved market share. Participate in collective bargaining activities. Perform other duties as assigned by CEO.
