Job Title: Interventional Radiology Technologist
Profession: Radiology Technician
Specialty: Interventional Radiology with a focus on Neurosurgery/Neuroscience
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Negotiable; 5x8 hour shifts with potential for 4x10 hour shifts
Hours Per Shift: 8 hours
Experience: Two years
License: Technician License (state-specific)
Certifications: BLS (American Heart Association ONLY), AART
Must-Have: Neurosurgery/Neuroscience Experience
Description:
The Interventional Radiology Technologist role requires experience in interventional radiology.
Demonstrates competence in selecting exposure factors and positioning to consistently produce radiologic images of diagnostic quality.
Works cooperatively with all department members to resolve problems expediently.
Displays flexibility, team spirit, compassion, respect, politeness, and accountability when interacting with customers.
Demonstrates awareness of and sensitivity toward patients' rights in all patient interfaces.
Administers oral contrast as needed per exam.
Instructs and prepares patients for radiographic or fluoroscopic examinations and assists the Radiologist during procedures.
Demonstrates proficiency in the operation of all x-ray equipment, CR, and DR systems.
Reports equipment malfunctions to the manager or lead.
Completes all assigned procedures in a timely manner and uses time between procedures to benefit the department by assisting others, performing clerical duties, stocking, transporting, etc.
Understands the role in maintaining medication security to authorized personnel only.
Demonstrates competency in providing health care services across all age groups.
Demonstrates competency in interpersonal relationships across all age groups.
Exhibits skills in using the Hospital Information System (HIS), Radiology Information System (RIS), and PACS.
Participates in hospital performance improvement activities as needed.
Maintains confidentiality by using a personal password and all patient care modules.
Answers telephone inquiries of a technical nature from physicians or hospital personnel while maintaining good phone etiquette.
