Telematics/Data Engineer
Location: Onsite in Mossville, IL

Job Overview:
The Telematics/Data Engineer will join the Telematics team at Caterpillar, working on innovative technologies that enable the monitoring and management of heavy equipment fleets remotely. The role will focus on providing real-time data and insights to optimize performance, reduce downtime, and empower informed decision-making. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in data analytics, data mining, customized reporting, and project management within an analytical or digital environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead data analytics projects and initiatives to provide insights into equipment performance and operational efficiency.
  • Develop customized reporting and dashboards for tracking telematics data and performance metrics.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data is integrated and actionable for fleet management optimization.
  • Apply advanced analytical methods to identify trends, reduce downtime, and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of telematics data, utilizing both Excel and PowerBI tools to visualize and analyze data effectively.

Education & Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience leading data analytics teams, data mining, and the development of customized reporting.
  • Proven track record of working on analytical or digital projects in a high-level capacity.

Technical Skills (Required):
  • Moderate experience with Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions for data manipulation and analysis.
  • Strong analytical skills for data interpretation, trend analysis, and decision-making.

Desired Skills:
  • Previous experience working with CAT Digital technologies or within the Caterpillar ecosystem.
  • Proficiency in PowerBI for building reports and dashboards.
