12-month position (260 days)
FLSA: Exempt
Contract Unit: This position is excluded from all bargaining units.
Salary:
Commensurate with certification and experience based on the Executive Salary Scale
Qualifications:
Possession of or eligible for a valid MSDE certificate in supervision/administration
Experience in student services/related areas and administration/supervision
Knowledge of regulations in relation to student enrollment and records, behavior interventions and supports, discipline, and school safety
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with staff, students and members of the community, including parents and business and agency personnel
Responsibilities:
Supervise and evaluate the following personnel and programs:
Enrollment/Student Records
Mentoring Project Coordinator
School Counseling Supervisors
Home Instruction Coordinator
Supervisor of Family, Community, and School Programs
Safe Schools Coordinator
Conference with parent/student appeals and advise the Assistant Superintendent for Student & Family Services on matters related to student discipline, school safety and/or attendance
Monitor processes to ensure the delivery of appropriate student counseling services
Lead all efforts associated with school safety including but not limited to School Resource Officers, safety monitoring, safety equipment, and safety staffing
Read, analyze and interpret local, state and federal laws, regulations and guidelines on matters related to school safety, student discipline, and student records
Lead county efforts to improve services for students and families including but not limited to anti-bullying efforts
Serve as leader of Choices Academy and Alternative Pathway Review team disciplinary actions and assignments
Serve as representative for and liaison between WCPS and local and state agencies, committees, and boards as directed
Oversee the activities of the mentoring initiatives
Develop procedures related to student records retention and oversee the implementation of these procedures
Plan and implement professional development in collaboration with supervisors and coordinators as relating to all offices within department
Other job-related duties as assigned
