- Position Type: Full-time
- Pay Range: $120,000 - $150,000
- Work Location: Wheeling, Illinois (On-Site)
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for maintaining aircraft components, including engines, technical systems, and airframe modules, ensuring optimal performance and safety.
- Utilize tools, equipment, diagrams, and manuals to effectively repair, test, and troubleshoot aircraft systems.
- Ensure adequate fuel levels and proper tire inflation before flight operations.
- Assist with aircraft passenger safety procedures as needed and serve on the Safety Board to address maintenance-related safety issues and hazards.
- Support aviation safety audits and promptly respond to any findings to uphold safety standards.
- Supervise maintenance personnel, including contractors, ensuring adherence to safety and quality protocols.
- Complete manufacturer training for the company's aircraft, focusing on airframe and powerplant systems.
- Conduct inspections, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and parts replacement on aircraft as required.
- Establish schedules for periodic inspections, overhauls, repairs, and modifications, while maintaining accurate records in compliance with FARs and company policy.
- Research and obtain quotes from vendors for heavy maintenance and inspections, ensuring cost-effective solutions.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with records maintained by outside agencies and coordinate maintenance department activities with flight operations.
- Assist in the preparation of the annual maintenance budget and assess aircraft cost studies.
- Establish and enforce maintenance safety rules and procedures, maintaining all hangar safety equipment and signage.
- Establish and maintain inventories for spare parts and ground support equipment.
- Monitor hangar security and environmental compliance, including compiling Material Safety Data Sheets and ensuring safe storage and disposal of chemicals.
- Ensure the proper maintenance and organization of shop and hangar tools, as well as ground support equipment.
- Perform all other duties as assigned
Skills/Competencies
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills
- Strong leadership abilities to effectively supervise and guide maintenance personnel, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
- Capability to think strategically about maintenance operations
- Solid decision-making skills, informed by technical expertise and analytical thinking, to resolve issues promptly and efficiently.
- In-depth knowledge of aircraft systems, maintenance practices, and regulatory compliance.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure thorough inspections, accurate record-keeping, and high-quality maintenance work.
- Ability to troubleshoot to diagnose and address mechanical issues effectively.
Qualifications
Required
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience.
- Typically require accreditation from a technical school or an applicable skilled trade program 2 - 4 years of experience.
- Hold an FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certificate
- Comprehensive knowledge of aircraft operations and maintenance.
Preferred
- Certifications: Inspection Authorization (IA)
