Description
Under supervision of the Land Development Review Administrator, the Graduate Engineer performs entry level engineering work related to the review, construction, investigation, development, and design of engineering projects.
Graduate Engineer I: $64,336.00 - $96,503.00
Graduate Engineer II: $68,839.00 - $103,261.00
Principal Duties
Review plans and specifications submitted by developers to assure that they are in compliance with the City development codes and ordinances. Engage in engineering research, prepare engineering reports, make computations, and make time and material estimates. Confer with and advise inspectors of construction projects and conduct inspections of projects during construction. Participate in reaching decisions as to necessary field changes. Perform investigative and public relations work related to engineering activities. Present reports to the Planning & Zoning Commission and City Council including preliminary plats, final plats, and other development related submittals. Work on special projects and reports. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
Graduate Engineer I
Bachelor's Degree in civil engineering
Valid Texas Driver's License
Texas Engineer in Training (EIT) certification, preferred
Graduate Engineer II
Bachelor's Degree in civil engineering and two (2) to four (4) years of civil engineering experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
Texas Engineer in Training (EIT) certification, or the ability to obtain by reciprocity within six (6) months of date of hire
Valid Texas Driver's License
Preferred:
Experience in municipal government
Knowledge of industry standard computer programs (HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, EPA SWMM, STORMCAD, Kentucky Pipe Network Analysis, Auto CAD, etc.)
Management or supervisory experience
Public speaking experience
