The Chinle Comprehensive Health Care Facility (CCHCF) is based in Chinle, Arizona (Northeast Arizona near Canyon De Chelly National Monument). Strong Navajo cultural traditions exist within the community, offering an opportunity to learn the Navajo language or learn about traditional Navajo medicine. The service unit is located on the Colorado Plateau with excellent opportunities for photography, hiking, running, road biking, cross-country skiing, and mountain biking. Canyon de Chelly National Monument is within 5 miles of the hospital and is a wonderful place for exploring and sightseeing, running, and mountain biking.

Chinle Comprehensive Health Care Facility (CCHCF)

The CCHCF provides medical care for approximately 35,000 Navajo citizens. Serving a rural area, many of the patients travel 100 miles round trip to receive care and do not have electricity or running water in their homes. In addition, most of the elderly patients speak only Navajo and live according to traditional Navajo cultural practices. The CCHCF and Ambulatory Care Center is a 60-bed inpatient hospital and outpatient facility. Services offered include:

General Surgeon - RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to)
  • The General Surgeon provides outpatient and inpatient surgery services to Client patients.
  • Serve as a staff surgeon and surgical consultant, examining, diagnosing, and treating surgical diseases and injuries.
  • Perform major surgical operations, such as gastrocolostomy, as needed.
  • Visit the surgery ward to ensure patients receive proper medical care and review clinical records for effectiveness and accuracy.
  • The General Surgeon refers patients to appropriate medical facilities when necessary, providing comprehensive clinical information.
  • Stay informed about advancements in surgical techniques and technologies.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and their families about treatment plans and outcomes.
  • The General Surgeon adheres to ethical and professional standards in medical practice.
  • Understand the cultural, social, and demographic characteristics of the patient community served.
General Surgeon - REQUIREMENTS
  • Must have completed five years of General Surgery Residency Training with at least six months in the required specialty.
  • Must be board certified or board eligible with the American Board of General Surgery.
  • Shall possess a current, valid, unrestricted license in any state, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a Territory of the United States.
  • Hold a valid unrestricted DEA with schedule II - V.
