BURNABY INFANT DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

The Burnaby Association for Community Inclusion (BACI) is seeking a full time, permanent Infant Development Program (IDP) Consultant. We are in search of individuals who have a passion for working with infants age 0-3 years, a desire to provide support to children and their families and to be a part of helping our children to reach their potential. Our ideal candidate has experience with very young children with a diverse range of abilities, places care and compassion at the forefront of all that they do, has a strong love of building relationships and connections, enjoys working independently as well as in a team, has a passion for seeking solutions, and wants to be a part of an inclusive community organization that is all about helping people reach their maximum potential.

Position: Regular FT IDP Consultant

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Schedule: Monday- Friday Flexible

Location: Community based/Burnaby Infant Development Program

Salary: $38.68 - $47.20

Qualifications:
Minimum Undergraduate Degree in related field (ie. psychology, child and youth care, sociology, nursing).
Five (5) years recent related experience working with infants in the community social services sector with a demonstrated working knowledge of family centered service, early intervention, child development, family support and community-based services.
Valid BC Driver's License Class 5 and access to a personal vehicle for work purposes required.
Clear BC Criminal Record Check.
Valid First Aid Certificate.

Immunizations need to be up to date.

Key Responsibilities:

The IDP Consultant works in partnership with parents and community professionals, primarily in the home visit setting, to support the inclusion of children who require additional supports in reaching developmental milestones:
Provides initial consultation for new families referred to Infant Development Program (IDP)
Conducts initial observation, screening and assessment of infant and family needs and provides ongoing support as needed
Assists families to find resources and community engagement opportunities that might benefit the child
Completes all initial required documentation
Provides developmentally appropriate and individualized suggestions to families to promote all areas of development
Makes referrals to other agencies as appropriate
Collaborates with families and providers for a holistic, family-centred early years experience
Addresses parent and childcare provider needs, and issues related to inclusion.
Liaises with other professionals in the planning process and provide services such as observation
