Airport Information: Albuquerque International Sunport
The Albuquerque International Sunport, known for its distinct southwestern architecture and cultural decor, is New Mexico's largest commercial airport, welcoming over 5 million passengers each year. About the Facility - Tohatchi Health Center (THC)
Is one of the newest outpatient facilities operated by NAIHS and is located in the southeastern portion of the Navajo Nation approximately 25 miles north of Gallup, NM. THC is an outpatient health care facility staffed by primary care providers and specialty clinics are operated by consultant staff from Gallup Indian Medical Center (GIMC). THC is a health center under the Gallup Service Unit. THC provides 40 hour/week physician services for approximately 8,000 nearby residents. THC is closed after 5pm on weekdays and is closed on weekends. In addition to pediatrics, internal medicine and family medicine, services provided include pharmacy, physical therapy, x-ray, laboratory, public health nursing, optometry, dental and health education. Inpatient needs are met by referral to GIMC.

Primary Care Physician - RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to)
- The Primary Care Physician will work with patients across the lifespan, from newborns to individuals aged 99 years.
- Provide professional medical services in the outpatient setting, including consultations and telehealth services.
- Deliver timely and appropriate medical care according to recognized medical standards and unit policies.
- Diagnose and treat patients, as well as provide medical consultations.
- Offer complete patient care, including health maintenance, early diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up arrangements.
- The Primary Care Physician refers patients to external facilities when care cannot be provided at IHS locations, ensuring clinical information is shared for proper follow-up.
- Perform medical services in accordance with credentialing-approved privileges.
- Accurately prepare prescriptions, ensuring drug therapy is appropriate, safe, and cost-effective. Screen for interactions and monitor therapy efficacy.
- Design treatment plans, educate patients and families about their condition, and initiate care.
- The Primary Care Physician provides emergency medical care as required.
- Education: Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.
- Experience: Must have a minimum of 24 months of experience in their specialty, including residency.
- Licensure: Must possess a current, valid, active, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or a U.S. Territory.
- Certifications: Must be board certified or board eligible in ABFM, ABIM or Pediatrics.
- Must hold current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
