Position Description
The Seattle Police Department seeks to fill the position of City-Wide Outreach Liaison (Ord. Title: Planning and Development Specialists II). This civilian position will serve as the primary point of contact between the Seattle Police Department, community stakeholders, local government agencies, and residents across the city. This position requires fostering communication, collaboration and trust between the Seattle Police Department and the community to promote public safety and enhance community relations. This position reports to the Director of Relational Policing, located in the Relational Policing Section.

Requires two years of experience in planning and research related to community outreach, public relations, communications, diversity; or other work directly related to City planning and development work; and a baccalaureate degree in Ethnic and/or Diversity Studies, English, Journalism, Public Relations, Public Administration, Marketing, or related field (or a combination of education and/or training and/or experience which provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class).

Position Description

Job Responsibilities
- Lead city-wide outreach efforts for the Seatle Police Department.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with diverse community leaders, organizations and advocacy groups.
- Create a framework between the Seattle Police Department and local communities that will address concerns, provide updates and foster open communication.
- Design, develop and create supporting materials including promotional materials, reports, guides, charts, etc. for various communities, the Seattle Police Department, city departments, and business partners.
- Organize, facilitate and lead community meetings on behalf of the Seattle Police Department.
- Collect and analyze feedback, concerns, and trends within the community to inform department leadership.
- Provide reports and presentations for the Chief of Police and Senior Command Staff highlighting community concerns and engagement efforts.
- Advise and assist with the department's Before the Badge program.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:

- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Detail oriented.
- Willingness to learn and implement emerging communication platforms with accuracy and professionalism.
- Other qualifications to include creativity, innovation, flexibility, friendliness and excellent interpersonal skills.
Position Requirements:
- Must pass a Seattle Police Department background investigation.
- Must have a valid Driver's license.
- This position is an onsite position; the employee is expected to perform the work in person. No remote work option is available for this position. Individual schedules will be based on an agreement between the employee and their supervisor.
