Open Rank Ultrasound Emergency Medicine Physician
The Department of Emergency Medicine at the Joe R. & Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio is recruiting for highly qualified full-time ultrasound fellowship trained and AEMUS eligible academic Emergency Physicians. Academic rank and title will be commensurate with experience and the requirements of the Joe R. & Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine.
Candidates must have completed a minimum of one-year of post-graduate ultrasound fellowship training with AEMUS eligibility. An ideal candidate will have an established track record of peer-reviewed research, excellence in education and outstanding clinical service. We offer faculty a wide variety of opportunities for personal as well as educational, research, clinical and administrative programmatic growth, and development. As part of the position, an applicant will be expected to contribute to all aspects of our Ultrasound Division operations with emphasis on fellow, resident, and medical student education, faculty and APP skill development and maintenance, departmental credentialing, and hospital privileging. Additional responsibilities include participation in all aspects of our quality assurance process, ultrasound courses, and image archive maintenance. The successful candidate will join an enthusiastic group of academic Emergency Physicians committed to creating the premiere Emergency Medicine residency program and academic department in Texas. Candidates must be BC/BE in Emergency Medicine.
Job Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include the practice of emergency medicine, and the provision of care to critically ill and injured patients.
Act as a resource and role model for the integration and utilization of point-of-care ultrasound as a diagnostic and procedural tool at all current and future clinical practice locations.
Participate in departmental and hospital committees
Provide support to the Ultrasound Division within the Department of Emergency Medicine to execute and improve upon our clinical ultrasound fellowship, combined clinical ultrasound & global health fellowship, combined clinical ultrasound & wilderness medicine fellowship, Emergency Medicine resident ultrasound educational rotations and activities, and our medical student educational rotations and activities.
Participation in the education of medical students, residents, fellows, and attending physicians in point-of-care ultrasound in the Department of Emergency Medicine and all associated clinical sites.
Attend all required Department of Emergency Medicine faculty meetings and Ultrasound Division faculty meetings.
Participation in Departmental and Hospital Process Improvements and Quality Improvement efforts.
Continued involvement in scholarly activity as evidenced by scholarly publications, participation in specialty society organizations and/or peer-reviewed research funding
Maintain professional affiliations and involvement at national, state, and local organizations.
Required Qualifications:
MD or DO degree from an accredited institution
Board certified or eligible in Emergency Medicine
Ultrasound Fellowship trained and AEMUS eligibility
Licensed for practice of medicine in the state of Texas
