What you'll do
  • Candidates for the Senior Chemist position will be responsible for product development and optimization activities for packaging adhesives.
  • The candidate will utilize project management tools and work with cross-functional teams to execute projects to meet agreed timelines.
  • The individual will also communicate results, both written and oral, to internal and external project teams.
  • Independently lead projects
  • Plan experimental design, conduct and organize lab work and testing as needed.
  • Responsible for evaluating and approving raw materials for both cost savings and supply security programs
  • Consideration of raw materials used in formulations and approval of alternative raw materials for existing products.
  • Engagement with and guidance for suppliers in the selection and qualification of raw materials.
  • Participate with cross-functional internal team responsible for managing and executing portfolio of raw material activities.
  • Product Development ownership for lab qualifications and approvals of alternative materials.
  • Presentation of lab results and recommendations in project meetings with both internal colleagues and suppliers, bringing solutions from lab prototype to commercialization.
  • Primary contact for quality and manufacturing organization to ensure continued and improved manufacturing efficiency and quality for current product range. Provide disposition for both raw materials and finished products.
  • Responsible for documentation and processing of all changes for both raw materials and finished goods within established Henkel systems.
  • Understanding of important regulatory requirements affecting existing technology and markets.
What makes you a good fit
  • Degree in polymer science, material science, chemistry or chemical engineering is required
  • Bachelor's degree plus 3-5 years of relevant industry experience, or Master's/PhD with 0-3 years of experienceis required
  • Solid knowledge of organic chemistry and/or polymer science with an understanding of the relationship between chemical structure and physical properties is required
  • Prior knowledge of adhesive technology and formulating is a benefit
  • Prior industrial experience is a benefit
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong team working spirit and proven ability to influence others
  • Knowledge of or prior experience with emulsion polymerization

The salary for this role is 75,000.00-$100,000.00. This is the range that we in good faith anticipate relying on when setting wages for this position. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range. This salary range may also be modified in the future.
